HTC U12+ review

21 June 2018
HTC is back with the next generation of its Liquid Surface phones. The HTC U12+ is this year's flagship from the Taiwanese phone maker and it improves on some of the features first introduced by the U11. Edge Sense 2.0 gets new gestures and there are now double the number of cameras: dual cameras on the front and rear.

As I feared...LCD + 3,500mAH battery = it ain't good enough. My love for HTC was gonna have me swallow the lack of headphone jack pill but the battery life killed it. Sorry HTC. Maybe now you'll finally go OLED like Apple will in 2019.

[deleted post]When will you review HTC sibling's ASUS?
Zenfone 5 looks a flagship mumbler.

8h web browsing and video playback for a $700-800 phone in 2018 ? Pathetic

          Great review guys!
What a disappointing thing about that battery life though even if it's bigger than most typical smartphones.
Camera is great (Maybe the Pixel 3 uses the same sensors) and that screen rotate is a real innovation.
          Thanks for the review GSMARENA!

No 3.5mm Jack = Fail (There is ENOUGH SPACE at the bottom to include the jack like the last year U11+. Even though BlueTooth 5.0 is better, HTC should give everyone a choice IMO.)
TouchPal Keyboard in HTC Sense UI = Fail (It seems that HTC is following OPPO's dick move to preinstall it. Hope it can be disabled/uninstalled. This also implies that HTC pulled a dick move to team up with the Chinese to spy what you type. Just install a third-party keyboard instead such as Gboard.)
Price = Fail (For this price point, some smartphone brands do include the necessary essentials like the headphone jack etc.)

Glad I dont have shares in HTC. It makesbme sad to see the road they have chosen. I remember my excellent HTC Desire and Desire Z (with keyboard built in). But this poor screen battery life on a flagship in 2018 - Just unbelievable.. A stupid completely incomprehensible design decision..

Htc is one of almost forgotten brand that still exist. Actually their products are good but failed to pull public attention.
Ps: Ricky, you're so handsome. Glad to see you in the photo sample

                      The battery life :(

Thanks again GSMA. This review convinced me to go after the HTC U11+, or the Note 8 post price drop. Right now in the MENA region some electronic retailers have both at around 550USD base. 1+ is risky with too little support here. Hopefully HTC can address the button feedback and battery issues in the 12 with future updates.

Overall nice, but the battery is a big failure. Any phone with QHD should come with at least 4,500+ mAh battery.
