HTC U12+ review

21 June 2018
HTC is back with the next generation of its Liquid Surface phones. The HTC U12+ is this year's flagship from the Taiwanese phone maker and it improves on some of the features first introduced by the U11. Edge Sense 2.0 gets new gestures and there are now double the number of cameras: dual cameras on the front and rear.

GSMarena should retry battery test with Chrome browser and MX video player. Maybe problem is with HTC native browser and video player.

Instead of making better products to dig it self from the ditch HTC makes this garbage.
I was huge fan of HTC in the era of HTC Touch HD and "One" line, but last few years they just cant make a decent phone, always something missing.

and more battery life is funny when you should recharge your phone everyday. and no difference between phones, except nokia 1100.

meh, battery life aside (with the promised software update for the buttons confirmed to be in the works), if you want the best dual-camera set up available, this phone is your phone. Waiting for Amazon to confirm shipment :)

HAHA "HTC had to lower the screen brightness keep the battery life in check" 64H endurance is awful this is one of the reasons they are going down the pan.

Battery life is terrible actually and it should be compared to the U11+ and not U11.

80% marks is above average, across all other reviews.

HTC U11's battery life was quite good for 3000 mAh size. It's a shame HTC has made worse battery life for this generation, let alone improving upon it....

That screen brightness, battery life and weird side keys are simply pathetic for a 2018 flagship phone costing $800. LG does better for audio. Samsung, Huawei and Google are on the same league for camera, and as for pretty much everything else the competitions are better than U12+. What a huge disappointment, HTC.

                                  Anonymous, 21 Jun 2018As I feared...LCD + 3,500mAH battery = it ain't good enough... moreXZ Premium with 5.5" 16:9 4K 807ppi + LCD + playing 4K videos had 72 hours. Battery is 3230mAh with last year cpu.

                                  Mate 10 has 5.9" QHD LCD + 4000mAh = 82h

The problem is HTC software. U11+ with 3900h had poor numbers too. Even using less than 400 nits.

                                  G7 will score near 75h.

HTC Blew it. I'm an owner of the U11, and love the company. But they went the wrong way with the U11+ and U12+. Worse battery life, not enough screen improvements. Fragile glass back without wireless charging makes no sense...The Edge sense is a great feature, but you can't get it into the hands of people to get them to use it. Now the buttons on the side are another issue that should never have been.

I think they have strayed too far away from what was successful. It might be too difficult to go back. Go back to the metal back, re-add the 3.5 jack, keep small bezels with long screen and add the stereo speakers. Ride durability and sound to success, and be the only phone to offer everything. It is the only way you can offer a phone at the same price range as Samsung and be successful. Otherwise, cut this phone's price in half...

I was ready to buy this phone. I thought they would match the brightness of the U11 but they didn't. I was an HTC diehard customer for years, the Desire, HD7, One X and One M7. I doubt I will ever buy an HTC ever again. Sad.
