Pocophone F1 by Xiaomi review

22 August 2018
Xiaomi's announcements have been relatively predictable so far, but the introduction of a new Poco sub-brand was a surprising move. It sounds like a marketing experiment - deliver flagship specs at cutthroat prices. Sound familiar? Well, it does remind of how OnePlus came to be, but we're not sure the new Pocophone F1 is headed in the same direction. Poco is still just a brand, and not a separate company and they stand on the shoulders of Xiaomi's logistics and after sales support network.

OPPO attacked XIAOMI 's "Redmi" brandphones with "Realme" brand phones .Now XIAOMI attacked OPPO with their POCO branded flagship killer. It is pure war between the brands. But finally XIAOMI is emerged as the winner ? Welldone XIAOMI !!!

I am heavily considering buying this over the honor play, it's just that I am uncomfortable with a couple of details:

                  1. Relatively large radius for the bottom screen curves
                  2. Screen asymmetry when notch is turned off (pointed top corners, rounded bottom corners)

I don't really mind the build quality and other cons of the device. I just want to ask if there's a way to work around these problems and to those who already own the phone, how much of a bother is it? Thanks.

In India I'm sure they'll not sell the Kevlar version at 30k because no one buys it at that price point people either go with Asus or increase there budget for Op because many features are missing like OIS, Solid Build (Let's be real plastic will always be plastic after few months it'll surely show it's true colors). The screen is not as good as Asus, lack of HD streaming content and much more. That's why they are only hyping the base variant available at $300.

Anonymous, 31 Aug 2018Sorry, I think, you're wrong. This POCO has nearly noth... moreYou're just really having buyer's remorse for wasting almost $600 on the base model 4GB RAM/64GB internal storage Zenfone 5Z which costs twice the $300 base model Pocofone ($300) which nearly has identical specs (SD 845) as the Zenfone 5Z, and in many ways, ACTUALLY BETTER than the base Zenfone 5z model, with 6GB RAM/64GB internal storage, 4000mAh battery, at half the price of the Zenfone 5Z. And MIUI is miles ahead in terms of customization options, fluidity and timeliness of Android security updates compared to ZenUI. It is the same battle as Zenfone ultra with the original Mi Max Prime. Both were nearly identical in specs/features but the Mi Max Prime killed the Zenfone Ultra being 1/3 the cost and having better software interface and updates. The result? The Zenfone 3 ultra line DIED without any successor while the popular Mi Max is now on its third iteration and all Mi Max iterations selling like hotcakes. It will be the same story for the Zenfone 5Z vs. the Xiaomi Pocophone. The Zenfone 5Z will be massacred/bludgeoned to death by the Pocophone with the Zenfone 5Z having zero chance of taking off in terms of sales figures. And just like the previous Mi Max Prime vs Zenfone 3 Ultra battle, blind Zenfone fans like you will always claim the Zenfone is 'worth the premium' price because it is made of 'premium' components. Tell that to the marines.

This POCO has nearly nothing, that a flagship should have,
                                    apart that fooling SoC.

Is Zenfone 5z overpriced? (at INR 29k)
just make a comparison, that all this phone offers for a little more

or lots of midrangers much better package for the same price.

and how clould be a phone with lower midrange display
and entry level network coverage and so on . . . a flagship
                                    or even flagship killer lol
only Shaomi and the hype-factory media fooling you.

that stereo (with 30% on one side lol) has been proven as well as a fooling gag

just dreaming, but you allways get, what you pay for!

Poco F1 ,in drop test screen is crack even from 1 meter.
its not durable as compare to metal body of honor play.

Just because it lacks LTE bands for the US market doesn't mean it isn't a 'flagship killer'. It has everything a flagship phone has and more, at 1/3 the price. It was never intended for affluent markets anyway. For them, there are lots of overpriced $1,000 snapdragon 845 offerings. Now if your idea of a flagship phone is one which supports complete worldwide bands and has an ultra expensive price and a popular brand name and credentials, then
your definition is clearly narrow-minded and elitist. I have no doubt you would call the Pocophone a trying hard 'flagship wannabe'; no different from iphone owners who say Samsung and Huawei flagship phones are nothing but poor iphone imitations.
