Pocophone F1 by Xiaomi review

22 August 2018
Xiaomi's announcements have been relatively predictable so far, but the introduction of a new Poco sub-brand was a surprising move. It sounds like a marketing experiment - deliver flagship specs at cutthroat prices. Sound familiar? Well, it does remind of how OnePlus came to be, but we're not sure the new Pocophone F1 is headed in the same direction. Poco is still just a brand, and not a separate company and they stand on the shoulders of Xiaomi's logistics and after sales support network.

Where can I find the wallpaper on page 4 ?

Anonymous, 30 Aug 2018Joke of the year! third world countris need higher-tier ... moreAre you still not done with your crying?

Why does it bother you so much that Xiaomi makes SD845 available for a much larger group of people than previous phones has? Why shouldn't a person with a $300 budget also be able to get SD845, plenty of RAM og battery to power it all, and not have any need for such as NFC?

We should have different types of phones available, not just one phone with different names and UI.

Anonymous, 30 Aug 2018Joke of the year! third world countris need higher-tier ... moreI don't know what's hard to understand that a country like India likes fast phones at a cheaper price and doesn't mind lack of things like nfc which is of no use to us. People in more developed countries are free to pay more and buy other phones that have nfc which are plenty.

At the end of the day xiaomi will sell at least a million of those phones over its life time in India.

Anonymous, 30 Aug 2018Can't believe they are ruined another great phone with no N... moreDepends on your region. In India having nfc is as useful as stones to a hungry man. There is no real use for nfc and this phone was basically deigned for India considering how much the focus is on price.

            but sucks as a phone
with entry level network coverage (bands)
            nice!

all the media hyping about the big nothing lol
and forget to check for the main phone-functions. nice!

Geric.770, 30 Aug 2018My burning question for Xiaomi: Will they gain at least ... moreO course they will . . .

with that entry level radio support (3G, 4G Bands - no licence cost to pay for that)
(and so probably lower binned, cheaper SoC-s as well
              . . . for a 'flagship-killer') lol

              with that lower-midrange displays
(that does not even matches the given specs - 500nits, see review!)

ZF MPM1 offers similar - or even better - for much less.
              . . . and so on.
              Dont worry!

and please don't forget Shaomi has been cought earlier
using cheaper parts later in production (other displays and cam-sensors
and who knows what else . . .)

some entry level Android (Go Edition) phone
offers there more even for $100

                and that's titled as a flaship killer . . . ???? LOL

FYI a really flagship phone supports over 20 FDD-LTE Bands, or even near 30.
The media and Shaomi just fooling people.

8/256 GB version isn't listed on global POCO sites,

nor offer for that, stolen (copycat) kevlar back - versions.

                    Please post a reliable source!

Xiaomi does not mentioning that in Specs,

but the given 500nits brightness has not been proved in review as well.

This phone will be a runaway hit. It simply has no competition in terms of price:performance+features ratio in the flagship range. Xiaomi probably produced this phone with barely a profit or even possibly zero profit.
However, I won't buy it because it doesn't have an IR blaster.
The GSMArena team probably made a typo saying it has IR blaster when it only has infrared face recognition [not infrared/IR blaster for remote control apps].
I need my master remote control.

Can't believe they are ruined another great phone with no NFC. I could suffer the notch and MIUI, but with no NFC in 2018 it's basically a feature phone.
