Pocophone F1 by Xiaomi review

22 August 2018
Xiaomi's announcements have been relatively predictable so far, but the introduction of a new Poco sub-brand was a surprising move. It sounds like a marketing experiment - deliver flagship specs at cutthroat prices. Sound familiar? Well, it does remind of how OnePlus came to be, but we're not sure the new Pocophone F1 is headed in the same direction. Poco is still just a brand, and not a separate company and they stand on the shoulders of Xiaomi's logistics and after sales support network.

For all of those who say other flagship phone is better. This poco phone is NOT for everyone. If you want better flagship camera, better flagship design, then go for it.
This poco phone is mainly for teenager who have strict budget and don't want slow phone or a 4-5 years old ifruity

Love the Community, 27 Aug 2018Didn't we all miss the plastic body? You know tough plastic... moreI agree these are mobile phones so they make them out of glass which is fragile.I work in construction and I would rather have plastic. Why don't they do all flagships in plastic (cheaper price) as well as the glass ones(full price) and charge less for plastic version and let public decide, I would defo save money and get plastic variant.

The price and specs are excellent but the lack of OIS shows - MI8 pictures at low light are consistently much better. Still, MI8 is 20% more expensive but maybe it's worth it - it's not too rare to take pictures in less than perfect conditions.

What I find strange is that there's no community development happening around either Mi8 or Mi8 SE though they are both several months old and the kernel sources for the latter were published months ago and I find MIUI repulsive, too intrusive and looking too much like iOS and too much unlike stock Android.

M Kon, 27 Aug 2018Meh!!!!! Plastic body.Didn't we all miss the plastic body? You know tough plastics are durable unlike glass because glass is glass and glass breaks no matter how "durable" they claim to be. Sure that plastic back doesn't detach for us to replace a battery but hey, this is step 1 for the return of plastics on muh flagship phones.

Yeah! Poco F1 is undoubtedly THE 2018 flagship killer.

Kiyasuriin, 22 Aug 2018About the plastic bag. Haha. I'll just get the kevlar editi... morecheap because it doesn't have a flagship display!
                            (and so on)
(May be Zenfone Max Pro M1 has got a better one, but probably not worse, for much less.)
. . . and it does also not offer the promised value! (500nits)
even if the review-unit was the top-notch in POCO F1 serie.

                            ------------------
3G and 4G/LTE coverage is terrible,
some Anroid Go phones offer more!
                            and all the better midrangers.

                            That's a very big con.
I just wonder, that no one cares about the most important thing in a phone . . . LOL

Just an overhyped Shaomi as usual.

                              Imo, 23 Aug 2018Guys, There is a tough decision, please help: Mi8 or Poco... more+ 100 $ = Mi 8

Quite interesting phone for money. Probably would consider to buy it instead of ...my Galaxy S9 if it was released at the same time. Wouldn't be bothered with absence of water resistance or mediocre low light camera performance but glitchy OS with bloody MIUI could stop me from buying it. Can't stand MIUI, sorry.

What is the network connectivity and mobile data download speed, in-call sound quality and loudness, GPS acquisition speed and accuracy, dual VOLTE support, wifi download speed etc. Please cover these aspects also in the reviews in addition to gloating over the cpu, ram, camera etc. Thanks in advance for clarifications.
