They are merely pointing out that in order for a device to achieve real success, every significant thing on it haa to be right. That is the best way for (in this instance) Sony to carve themselves out of the hole they are in.
For example: I would not buy this phone because of the headphone jack, and its (based on the pictures). So, Sony came closer to success, for sure, but don't seem to be setup for real success.
And that is what people seem to be attempting to point out.

Mr Magma, 30 Aug 2018At this point I'd rather get an S9 plus over this one. It sounds like you'd go for the Samsung rather than the Sony, because the Samsung is the "original". But from a more practical point of view, I'd say you could go for the Sony because now it has become pretty much like a Samsung with a much better software experience and faster updates (now that the hardware and general capabilities are so close to each other).

3.5mm is not coming back people. Sony is in the business of selling high end wireless headphones as well and they want you to buy them. Also let's not forget that Sony is still in business of selling dedicated music players which do have audio designated hardware and headphone jack. So they do not want their phones to cannibalize this either.

Sony didn't flow any one but LGs panels are like that So it's a take or leave it for the company and they did make the edge and thats the only thing it copied so please don't say nonsense and become nonsense.
Nokia has the the same about the 8 siroco but when why no one is talking about ???
So I guess haters are everywhere :)

I find it annoying that folks who comment on this site are always complaining about one thing or the other about the Xperia range.
First it was bezels, then it was the display technology (LCD vs. OLED), then looks and now they're on to specs and pricing?
Their constant whining about practically every every device reviewed is so irritating I just hope GSM Arena just disables comments everywhere except their weekend debates and polls.

There was a sonyfan (not you.. but i think you know who is he), he used to say "oled is bad, sony will directly jump to microled and skip oled, rounded corner is a bad ui design, sony is different and will not follow what tr0lls say, etc".

But sony doesn't use Jdi's oled because Jdi is not ready to mass-produce its product.
So sony uses Lg's oled.

Im a fan of sony but not bias. In fact this is the first time that i would say that Sony's sample shots are more pleasing than the Samsung's. Note9's night shots are brighther but Sony's sample shots are more natural.

I really like how people complain about sony phones about how they're not keeping up with samsung's features and what not and when they do implement some similar features to their phone these sammy fans go nuts over it.
Really people, just grow up. the market's huge, just buy the one you like instead of talking sh*t about any certain company, c'mon
