As i said above conmpanies copy companies.
Samsung brings foldable phones this year and next year will Apple xiaomi Oppo Viuvo oneplus Asus Acer etc copy same design.
Long time ago Kryocera made first foldable phone but because noone were interested in brand Kryocera this trend died was biried and now because of Samsung brand this trend can see the light again.
Like Notch. Essential and Sharp were first phones with notches and noone was interested now from time apple made X all copy fugly notch.

Is any phone worth $1,000? Absolutely not! Not a single one!
Will Sony/Samsung ever make a phone that could rival Popcorn in value? Absolutely not cause they have R&D expenses at least ten times bigger than Xiaomi. Once Xiaomi starts researching new technologies in mobile phone market then their phones would go up in price substantially, so far they are just putting existing parts together to make a phone with business plan to undercut well established competition. And that's legit business plan.

..and... moreRoom there is not, it's a tightly packaged device with lot's of components and very carefully planned. Look how careful is the battery shielded from the rest of the components.
With re-engineering on battery priority they can make additional room but at this point actual 3500+ battery is not on their spec sheet. XZ2 lasts almost as long as S9+ in every day usage so it's all about how you maximize the battery

I just wonder if sony has changed the shutter speed time. In previous devices, the minima was 1 SECOND. That's too little for night photography. Anyone know if it was changed to 20s or 30s?

However while the sensor is not amazing the v30 even does battery very well.
Hopefully that continues and with a proper camera.
V40 could be very enticing

Just for informatuion Nikon presented D3500 new camera for 499 this plus poco for 300 and we have 800 price compared to 1000-1300 for note or XZ3 sony new in a week released iphones etc.
D3500 Nikon does a llot more better photos than any phone could ever imagine i know its a carrying 2 devices but still for a much less price.
Just imagine if a phone have a same camera like D3500 for example it would be like a wonder. But thats not possible.
But i really want to see Razer 2 could make a huge urprise.

Especi... moreyes. the camera UI is a dream on LG, especially the manual controls. i have taken the most detailed snaps using LG V10's manual mode....amazing detail no matter how much you zoom. you're right, maybe they need to update their sensors.
for me, camera, audio and battery life are the only things that matter. and battery life is an area where LG always sucked.

Especially with g6 and v30. Good lens, cheap sensor not worthy of flagship price.
However the camera ui? That is ahead. Lg probably has the most robust camera ui.

for me its xperia xz3 vs lg v40. this is where i'm not able to decide. i was a loyal fan of sony for over 10 years back in the sony ericsson days. but 2 years back i got my first lg...the v10, and it was the most awesome phone for me coz it proved that LG's camera and audio tech is years ahead of others when it comes to actual deliverance.
now the xz3 looks promising and the design is finally in line with latest trends. but i know for sure that DSEE HX is no contest for QUAD DAC, so LG wins there. and the cam on the xz3, is it gonna be comparable to LG ?

The curves on the display just make XZ3 doesn't scream "SONY" anymore. It rather closely resembles Samsung S8/S9 as GSMA Team has already said, or rather Nokia 8 Sirocco. Gone are the days of Sony's remarkable rectangular design.

Especially being 10mm and n... moreThickness of 10mm is quite tricky on both XZ2 and XZ3 cause doesn't have a constant thickness as the depth builds from 6mm at the corners to 10mm at the center. That is the reason why camera cannot be placed up high, the reason why fps is placed so low and the reason why they cannot use that curvature of a surface for additional battery space or additional hardware.
When you place the phone on flat surface from sides it looks like it's floating

I'm a Sony fan using Sony phone since SE era, but the phone since xz2, nah no thx. I'll stick on my Z5P. I still prefer the omni balance design, with the fingerprint sensor on the side. fingerprint sensor at the back or at the front is a bad idea
