Samsung Galaxy Watch review

10 September 2018
With its new Galaxy Watch, Samsung has combined design cues and durability from its Gear S3 and Gear Sport smartwatches while appealing to an even wider audience by making it available in two sizes and three colors. It's also embodied with new health, fitness and smartwatch capabilities. Is this enough to make it the Samsung’s most appealing smartwatch offering yet?

Looks like the 42mm black one won't be available here. I checked Samsung's website here and the 42mm is only available in Rose gold.

FullmetalJun, 10 Sep 2018The black rotating bezel on the 46mm one looks pretty ugly.... moreExcept battery life this would be second problem. Not sure they are not interested to invest money in smartwarch market or it's too complicated to make processors with bluetooth 5.0 support.

"ith a 100% charge, the Galaxy watch estimated a battery life of 2d 13h 32m"

meanwhile my garmin watch has been running for 14 days and is at 18% battery left... i don't understand how other watches can even be used until they improve battery life dramatically. right now there's no competition..

Realistic1, 10 Sep 2018I'm genuinley curious about why does this tech exist. For ... moreLike someone else said, so I don't have to get my massive phone out of my pocket (Note 8) just to dismiss a spam email or something.
It's also has some useful apps for cycling, etc.
I'm still using a Pebble Steel but the battery isn't holding up to well.

Realistic1, 10 Sep 2018I'm genuinley curious about why does this tech exist. For ... morePersonally I ordered this watch because of notifications and possibility to answer some calls. I have Samsung Note and it is too bulky for me to keep it in pocket all the time (but I still prefer large screens), not to mention that jeans can have those white lines after a while from phone. Even when I'm keeping in pocket, sometimes I'm missing call or message when outside doing something (keeping my phone on silent mode). Since I always have backpack or shoulder bag with me, i prefer to keep my phone there and not worry about missing calls or messages.
That's my story why I want watch. Btw I had zenwatch 3 before and that's the reason I will never buy wear OS watches again until they will completely change OS.

The new endurance rating for smartwatches is nice! I'd like to see even screen brightness, contrast, sunlight contrast and color reproduction accuracy just like smartphones reviews! Keep it up

The black rotating bezel on the 46mm one looks pretty ugly.
And Bluetooth 4.2 is a joke. Why watches & headphones don't use Bluetooth 5.0 is beyond my comprehension

For me, just a regular watch with heart rate sensor would be enough.

I'd like to hear opinion of someone who owns iWatch or some Samsung watch, so I can understand this better.

                  Good watch though.

Even Mobvoi offers 400x400 OLED Always On Display for 120€, what's up Samsung?

Samsung Watch (Gear S4) the short summary:
                      -Styling: 8/10 (subjective)
                      -Specifications: 9/10 (industry best)
                      -Software: 7/10 (great with caveats)
-Third-part support: 4/10 (far behind AndroidWear, and even further behind iWatch)

                      Verdict:
                      -Buy with caution, its expensive.
-Also "on-par" AndroidWear watches may come very soon but supporting a stronger Software and Third-Party Support.
-Not to mention the next Apple Watch which is even better in these areas but is limited to iPhone owners, and comes with a distasteful/weird Styling.
