Sony Xperia XZ3 review

Few phones can claim they caused quite as big of a stir as the Xperia XZ3. After Sony dropped its first curved OLED Xperia, seemingly out of the blue at IFA 2018, reactions have ranged from overwhelming excitement, through confusion and all the way to denial and anger. That's a level of drama typically reserved for soap operas or celebrity gossip and it all spells out one thing - a massive wave of exposure for Sony.

What happened to Sony? Camera - judging from the GSM Arena samples only - is clearly the best in low-light. Wow! I even like the new design (hated the XZ2 line).

Only thing that makes me hesitate from switching my XZ Premium to the XZ3 is that the XZ3 can't stand on a plain surface . I use this quite often to take a picture [far away selfie :-) ]

So I'll definitely say that those blue screen stints are deliberate. I don't think it's bad color reproduction anyway

          Samsung's panel is roughly just 8-bit with some software enhancements to reach near 10-bit HDR level of contrast and color space. Sony uses true HDR10 compliant screen, and so does LG. It makes sense because both the G7 ThinQ and XZ2 Premium share the same 1000nits capable IPS LCD screens, and the XZ3's display could also be a LG-made one.

          I already said that Samsung is better at color accuracy, with my term of "screen calibration," so I don't get your point there.

                This product echoes that I want be like samsung s9 plus .... but fails very badly...rip sony.

                  Oled XZ3 IS superior.

                  XZ2 oled is HDR rec 2020 Plays 1,073,741,824 colors, amoled pentile only 16,777,216 colors in total.

                  XZ3 oled is RGB hace 2k real, amoled have pentile display, no have 2k real, According to gsmarena display XZ3 have 500 bits, s9 And note 9 only makes 370 nits in manually. The screen of the XZ3 have converter to be to HDR and rescaled from low of 1080p to 2k.Do not be fooled by the Sony hater de gsmarena who is cheating on you.

                    So it looks almoust like Note9... just without a pen, second camera, heart rate sensor, iris scanner... or cooling system. And price is almoust as high as the price of Note9.

                            Sony OLED screen is great no doubt, but the best? Nope.

                                That's great, but what about the LTE bands? Does it support B71? Many of the recent Sony devices are missing this info. It should be printed on the box, or available via the service menu...

                                  It is a shame that sony still can't resolve its heating issue. Why didn't they copy poco's heatpipe design?

                                    Finally sony is following samsung's steps. 18:9 curved oled screen with rounded corners and minimal bezels. Although sony can't quite reach samsung standard(bad color accuracy, low brightness, more reflective curve and possibly a bad palm rejection, still more bezel can be shaved), it is a good step forward. Copying from the best is always good.
