LG V40 ThinQ hands-on review

03 October 2018
Someone was inevitably going to do it, and it makes all the sense in the world for it to be LG - the V40 ThinQ is the first phone with both an ultra wide-angle and a telephoto cam on its back. Of course, there's a 'regular' one in between them, for a total of three actual distinct self-sufficient modules unlike… previous triple-cam setups.

Come on LG, you know you can do better than 3,300 mAh battery... Why you still maintain 3,300 mAh battery at the maximum in 2018 - 2019... ??!

Few months later, this device will be ignored by Lg, as they previously did to the V20, Few security updates and software update. Lg makes good device with 0 services, so, avoid buying lg mobile phones.

When is the full review coming out?

"Wait, where's the V40's notch, we hear you ask. It's there, but you can choose to hide it in settings (which we quite obviously did). You can also tweak the radius to round off the corners and even accentuate the status bar with a rainbow effect - the G7 treated its notch the same way."

Every Android Truther / User should HIDE the FUGLY NOTCH if they have a NOTCHED phone. That sends a message to "flip the mi**le finger" to (Cr)Apple (show NOTCH as "trendy"), Essential (did the NOTCH first). GSMArena got it right on their statement.

"We're still not tired of praising makers that keep the good old 3.5mm jack, and LG is one of them, plus it's got its audiophile-oriented 32-bit DAC behind it."

That is music to our Android Truthers' / Users' ears :D

Jase PM, 04 Oct 2018You obviously never owned a V30 as the battery life is excellent.same here in v30 plus.

Considering the biggest flaw with the V30 was its middling OLED screen, but I've yet to se any review which clarifies whether the V40's screen is an improvement or not.

Whackcar, 03 Oct 2018The V30 was an excellent phone ruined by a insufficient bat... moreYou obviously never owned a V30 as the battery life is excellent.

I rather have good battery backup thancarry a charger with me. Battery fail

The thing about LG phones is they look great on paper but it's the execution where they fall short of the mark. Case in point: they've shown lots of innovation over the past few years with new camera features and options, but then the user experiences problems with basis like proper exposure or focus. I think LG needs to go back to their roots with swappable batteries, IR remotes, etc Offer good midrange devices and stop trying to be like Samsung and Apple.

                              What were they thinking ?

                              Five cameras look nice though.

Mobile companies are crazy with 12mp camera phone, nobody wants 12mp crappy zooming camera phone, mobile should be 16mp with quality lens,

why none of the selfie cameras isn't really wide angle (107+degrees)?
this could have made the selfie-stick obsolete!

The portrait lighting on the selfie camera looks way better than the one on the back camera of my friend iPhone X...
It always cut ears or sometimes even part of the head.

I would prefer a slightly different configuration for the camera.
                                        15mm, 30mm and 60mm.
