Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro review

19 Oct 2018
It's been almost nine months since the Redmi Note 5 series premiered, and it's already time for an upgrade. The Redmi Note 6 Pro is now official, shaking up the lineup with one of the most recognizable and controversial features on the market - a frame-to-frame display with a notch.

What's the point of buying this, when it's no superior upgrade from Note 5 Pro ?

after read the review and compare this redmi note 6 camera with redmi note 5, main camera performance in redmi note 6 seem decrease in quality and processing if compare it with redmi note 5, even redmi note 6 main camera can't compete with mi a2 and realme 2 pro, surprisingly the predecessor redmi note 5 can compete with both of them in comparation tool

GSM Arena should review both Lenovo S5 Pro and K5 Pro, then compare them with this Redmi Notch 6 Pro.

At a glance K5 Pro has a few things over this RN6P: USB Type C, stereo speakers, fast charging support, notch-free

Shanti Dope, 20 Oct 2018I honestly don't feel the boost in battery life, but memory... moreWell, with my usual mixed load (socnet, web, yt, little games) when on 9.6 I had ~8 hours of screen, on 10.0 I can easily have 9 hours; and I don't discharge below 10% (by MIUI's recommendation) :)

Though I can't say something certain about memory management, it feels almost the same for me; only once I remember how there was less than 1 Gb left out of 4 Gb (maybe on 9.5), usually it never falls lower than 1.4 Gb left, and I barely noticeable it anyway)

Nicolas F, 19 Oct 2018Yeah, mine feels fine too) In fact, with MIUI 10, it seems... moreI honestly don't feel the boost in battery life, but memory management definitely has improved significantly.
On MIUI 9, I usually hover around 1.2GB available, now MIUI 10 gives me usually 1.4 to 1.6GB available, sometimes even 1.8GB, and that is by doing the same exact phone routine on both versions.

One thing they could've fixed though is the microphone quality during video recording, or even just audio recording.
Noise cancellation algorithm gets in the way of the sound quality, which is great without it. For that, I have to use Cinema FV5-Lite with an option to turn off internal noise cancellation algorithm to record decent audio quality videos.

Siput Sarawak, 19 Oct 2018Poor battery life. Crap useless 4000mah with low ppi. Go home!Excuse me, what? How 400 ppi is "low"? And why would anybody need more ppi for just a smartphone's display?

In fact, with MIUI 10, it seems that it actually have increased stand-by battery life (with apps' "smart activity control" or whatever) :)

                                What is that?
There are basically no upgrades except the audio being louder.
The design is uglier, the display is inferior, the battery life is similar, the performance is similar.
They might as well call it Redmi Note 5.1.

Poor battery life. Crap useless 4000mah with low ppi. Go home!

One thing that surprised me about camera was that it actually renders stone wall below castle with clock as actual stone wall. Not like painted plywood as some so called flagships do, Pixel 2, for example. Not bad for lower mid-tier handset.

poor battery life compared to previous redmi notes

Nicolas F, 19 Oct 2018Well, I expected that battery life of this phone would be w... moreI feel you for having bought the Redmi 5 Plus instead of waiting for Note 5 AI. But my phone is still fine, just that GPU is inferior to most newer mid rangers.
