Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro review

19 Oct 2018
It's been almost nine months since the Redmi Note 5 series premiered, and it's already time for an upgrade. The Redmi Note 6 Pro is now official, shaking up the lineup with one of the most recognizable and controversial features on the market - a frame-to-frame display with a notch.

That is a desinformation. I turned off ads in MIUI apps without unlocking bootloader or installing other ROMs.

Go to MIUI app "Security" -> "Data transfer" -> "Network connections" -> 3-dots menu -> "Background connections" -> find and turn off:
        - Analytics
        - Facebook App Manager
        - Facebook Services
        - msa

Also turn off "Show recommendations" in every MIUI app' settings.

Sorry if I misspelled some titles, I use russian language. Also, the route is for MIUI 10, but similar for older versions.

Nicolas F, 19 Oct 2018But they forgot that it hasn't Wi-Fi 5 GHz.Does it really matter much? Sometimes 2.4GHz WIFI is more stable despite the slower speed.

Well, I expected that battery life of this phone would be worse than of Redmi 5 Plus (have one) and Redmi Note 5 AI Dual Camera (should have waited for that one)...
            but not THAT worse oO

              Pros
-Big screen with superb contrast and tiny bezels.
              -Great battery life. (4000mAh)
-The Snapdragon 636 is excellent for the class.
              -Very good all-round camera experience.
-3.5mm jack, microsd slot as STANDARD
-IR blaster and FM Radio are included at this price range
              -3 / 4GB RAM, 32 / 64GB eMMC 5.0
              -Hybrid dual SIM (4G+3G)
              -4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac
              -Fingerprint Sensor

              Cons
-4K video recording requires a third-party app. (Can be solved by installing Xiaomi.eu after unlocking of bootloader.)
-Outdated microUSB port. (Xiaomi's decision to keep cost down, whether you like it or not.)
-Lacks fast charging. (Can be solved by installing custom ROM that supports fast charging after unlocking of bootloader.)
-FUGLY NOTCH. (Use hide notch in MIUI settings.)
-ADs in MIUI. (Can be solved by installing Xiaomi.eu after unlocking of bootloader.)

There, fixed it for you, edi**r.

It boasts a massive 5,000 mAh battery underneath the 6" screen, which combined with the low price may tip the odds in its favor."

Glad that GSMArena did a honorable mention of this device.

With the Realme 2 Pro and now the Honor 8x in India, at least here they can not even think of launching this at 14-15k even for the higher 4/64 variant.
I am guessing this to be the Redmi Note 6 in India (they wouldn't have seen the RM2Pro and 8x coming when they launched it with the same SD636), and a separate Redmi Note 6 Pro altogether.
Both the RM2Pro and 8x will simply demolish this at 14-15k.

Despite the increasing quantity and quality of direct competitors, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is still a great phone for a great price, that checks all the basic boxes. It's only drawback would be the ugly notch.

In addition to it's worthy competitors, the Oppo Realme 2 Pro, Xiaomi Mi A2 (in-house sibling rivalry), Asus Zenfone Max Pro and the Motorola One Power, I would also suggest the new Lenovo K5 Pro too.

If it's supposed to be the same as the Redmi Note 5 AI Dual Camera, then why is there no Fast Charging support out of the box?
