Huawei Mate 20 review

2 November 2018
Huawei Mate 20 or Huawei Mate 20 Pro? That's one very reasonable dilemma, but you don't have much of a choice, do you? If you are lucky to live in one of the few markets where both phones are available, then you can save some cash by getting the regular Mate 20. But it is one peculiar trade-off with some odd gains and losses. Let's find out if that's a deal worth making.

Mark, 18 Nov 2018This huawei mate 20 comment section, pls post that thing in... moreDid you read my comment before instructing me to post on an iPhone thread? I reviewed the phone because I OWN ONE. I am currently using a Huawei Mate 20 and just shared what I've observed in the past 3 days (prior to my comment) that I am using it. I just put a simple comparison with my experience on iPhone vs. Huawei which was allowed because obviously the admin posted my review. I also asked if there's anybody out there, other than me and YOU, who experienced the same thing as I did or if they know any solutions for what I've experienced so far while using my HUAWEI MATE 20. Now go post somewhere else because this is a comment section for HUAWEI MATE 20 and you did not post anything about it nor helped in any issues and problems related to the phone.

NOW ON A MORE RELATED comment: after a week and a half I haven't experienced the "screen glitch" (if you can call it that) while browsing youtube. So far so good. I just really don't like the built in "camera filter". I have removed the beauty, thin face and all other filters before using the camera and yet my face still looks "perfect" and by perfect I mean seems like edited. On the other hand I am having problems with the positioning of the volume and power button. The headset socket, too :( but the camera way the camera adjusts based on what it's capturing is really good for me. recognizing buildings and greeneries and giving me options if I want a wide or super wide view of my shots. Well that's just it so far for my experience as someone who last used an android phone 3yrs ago and as a 1st time huawei user.

To all of people thinking to buy the mate 20x , please think again. I've used both the mate 8 and the mate 10 and I can say that although the size of the two phones are close but the small difference in size really makes big difference in real life . Mate 20x is a really good phone but in the end, SIZE DOES MATTER and there is no way you would like this phone as your daily driver.

Some websites and reviewers say that the mate 20 has OIS as the mate 20 pro. However, here you say the opposite. Which was your source? I'm divided here, the huawei website doesn't make reference to OIS in both models.

Thank you for the good riview!

Here's my experience: There are times when the screen would suddenly go blank. It won't respond when i swipe up to access the home buttons. But would respond again when I lock the screen and unlock again. It would also suddenly blackout. I always thought that it died but when I unlock it again through the finger scan it will be working fine again. There was also a time while I was browsing YouTube scrolling suddenly became bumpy then screen suddenly went wild with white background and red and blue a green diagonal lines. I don't know if it's because of the way I use the phone? I'm on a one-week replacement period so I am really using it hard, scrolling and closing apps, switching from one app to another the fastest I can. I haven't experienced this with an iPhone even if my available memory is only 2GB, and I am using a 3year old iPhone. I may sound biased but I am basing my observation on what I've experienced so far. Hoping to find other users with the same problem as mine and hoping also to find more problems before I surrender my phone for replacement and hoping to read on more reviews about issues and concerns and if there's any remedy available for the said problems aside from replacement. And yes true with the loud speaker, the middle is still like in low volume setting. Headset, too. Other than that: battery life is really good, been using it for 2-3 days now: using internet, browsing, playing games, taking pictures, playing music.

The phone is awesome with only 1 doubt the screen pixel density. Sometimes the 1080p screen work better. more energy efficient. I remember the mate 9 vs the mate 9 pro. I choose the mate 9.That is why I might go for mate 20 X . The camera and the big battery plus low pixel density . Me nice all day.

The only thing bringing the whole rating down is the standby time (which mentioned by GSMA for being just average) but then again, standby drain can be easily fixed with software updates.

So, basically I am deciding between this and last years' Mate 10 pro, which I think still has a better camera and battery life complete with an OLED screen. LIFE IS TOUGH!

[deleted post]Care to elaborate? There are no comparisons with Apple whatsoever, and the phone is praised for everything but the loudspeaker. So, please, enlighten us!
