OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition review

17 December 2018
OnePlus announced a long-term partnership with high-performance British carmaker McLaren and the first device to come from this relationship is the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition. As a "Salute to Speed" - which is the tagline for this product - the McLaren Edition brings 10GB of RAM with an already fast and powerful Snapdragon 845 CPU.

Mclaren optimizations indeed lower the porformance lol. I don't know why people think that a car company can optimize a phone.

          1. "Better by far, to buy an ex-flagship where you get..." a battery that only holds 80% of its charge because it's been used so much?

          2. Where I live, the McLaren 6T is over $350 cheaper than the base model Note9. Both officially and in the gray market.

          3. The OnePlus 5 looks ANCIENT compared to this - the design is a shameless iPhone 7 Plus copy and paste job. Yes, you get a headphone jack, but the camera gives less than ideal photos (even with a ported Google Camera APK). And there's AptX HD and LDAC Codes which give exactly the same audio fidelity for all YouTube and Netflix content.

This review is pointless. You guys already did the 6T. This is just the 6T with faster charging and 10GB of RAM. You could have just done a reaction article of this phone rather than put it through its paces.

Anonymous, 17 Dec 2018700 dollars for a chinese nobody cares phone is horrible, t... moreJust wait for the first one to burn down and then you'll see how beautiful it is. I already heard of a lawsuit against Samsung because of a Note 9. It's just the beginning. And they should have crashed and burn, but people are too stupid and keep buying their phones. You just encourage them if you still buy phones from Samsung even after that huge Note 7 scandal. They even withdrew the Note 7 from the Note phones history, so that people would forget. But people are sooo stupid nowadays that it's not even funny...

To be honest, its not worth it.
You can get the S9/S9+ for cheaper in the USA now. Whilst in the international/grey market, these OnePlus devices are sold much higher than the MSRP, where vendors charge HIGHER than a Local Note9. So its doubly not worth it.

Besides there's little-to-no practical (real-world) upgrades this gets you over a OnePlus 5 which is almost 2 years old now. Its better for people to not buy this phone, otherwise, it encourages OnePlus to continue what they're doing: raise prices, reduce practicality.

Better by far, to buy an ex-flagship where you get 95% of current devices for 50% of the cost. Or at least hold out for 2-6 months, so that you can get a QSD 855 phone that was designed with Android 9.0 Pie system (you know a proper upgrade).

And a phone from 2017 that still has a flawless UI, I'm in no need to upgrade to Android 9, maybe the chinese phones need the latest versions to stay competitive???

That phone is absolutely gorgeous. Would be amazing with an IP68 rating.
As if the reviewer thinks the twilight Mate 20 looks better than this. That's crazy thinking.
I still don't understand why the need for these crazy 20 / 30/ 50 watt chargers?? My S8 will charge from 5% to 100% in an hour as well... I don't get it.

                      This company has no shame.

How many devices made by Samsung have pie now? I don't mean beta version! And also raw power is much better as well.

While you have the Chinese, they actually made a name for themselves and I have heard only food about one+. There isn't that many with bad experience. And the price tag? Special edition is cheaper than Samsung flagship!
