Motorola Moto G7 Power review

17 February 2019
Motorola's launch event in Brazil was quite the Carnival. We got not one, not two, but four different Moto G7 devices. We haven't been always keen on this kind of fragmentation, but when done right, the consumers are more than happy to have more choices. So, please buckle up, as today we will take the Moto G7 Power for a ride.

It's massive, heavy and has no redefining feature, but that's some amazing battery capacity and endurance. Makes 80 percent reason to get this phone. Just proves how more OEMs are missing out by not putting the biggest possible battery and wasting efforts on slimness, multiple cameras and notches. Sure, they will say 'But it's optimised". But does it hurt to have capacity AND optimisation?

George, 17 Feb 2019Garbage? Dude the G7 Power is one of GSM Arena's all time w... moreBattery life only dude ?
HD display, SD 632 chipset for 200 euros when there are devices like Moto's own One Power sporting the same 5000 mAh battery, FHD display, SD636 also handsets like the Note 5 and 6 pro, Nokia 6.1 plus all these are available for around 190 euros. All sport a FHD display and powered by the SD636. Seriously HD resolution looks horrible on such a large display.
Gsmarena still not reviewed the Moto One Power with the massive 5000 mAh battery and specs competitive to other budget phones.

If you don't like the camera you can load in the Pixel Camera app wich works perfectly because the phone is secretly optimized to use it. They even updated the original Motorola Camera app to have Google's AR Emoji built in. Know your facts please. I'm betting Motorola keeps working with Google as close as possible on the software side, there are many hints to it.

Wow such boring handsets like the Moto G7 series reviewed so fast by gsmarena but they have not yet reviewed the Moto One Power or the Nokia 8.1 which are great phones. Come on gsmarena review phones which are actually worth buying rather than these overpriced garbage like the entire G7 series.

Honestly it is by far the best of the G7 line. Made for those who seek battery life wrapped in nice design and support .

Those brands that you mentioned are junk compared to Motorola's high quality durable phones. Motorola's been here for 90 years innovating and continues to innovate. Go hate somewhere else and keep buying your low quality Chinese crap.

All the specs seem to indicate no compass. Which is a big negative.

It may not suit the masses , but being a niche product it wasn't meant for the masses. Some people need the optimization over bare specsheet. For those looking for the performance / camera performance , etc may find offerings from other manufacturers more suited. BUT LOOK : The display quality is top notch (not the resolution but accuracy , brightness contrast ratio and min brightness) it's out there against the more premium smartphones. The earpiece quality is also top notch( look at the lab results). plus rather than using Li-ion it is using Li-Po battery which is superior and about 30 % expensive to produce . Also not everyone buys smartphone for excessive processing power , blown out specs. For those who find this phone not worth your money simply ignore it or provide constructive criticism rather than outright slamming it down. Ps HD+ resolution requires less than half processing as compared to FULL HD+
                    720*1520=1094400 pixels 1080*2270=2451600 pixels
                    1094400/2451600= 0.45
ps : HD+ resolution is aptly good for day to day use , you won't be bothered by pixelation unless you are specifically looking for it.
I didn't wanna write this long but it had to be put out there.

If they'd put a 5000mah battery in the G7 Plus and dropped its price by 20% people might be interested. I don't think they'll ever learn, they're as stupid as HTC

At least they use ISOCELL sensors and take better pictures. Although they are not tested on this page, but it is reality. To speak of Asus or Xiaomi would be to go to another level of performance and superior quality at a lower price. This phone is junk. And the preference survey proves it.

As a paperweight, it could serve. But it would be a very expensive one. There are bricks with more style and much cheaper.

the display is taller, but not that large, compared to a 16:9 display it's as wide as a 5.3" display which is quite narrow these days
