Xiaomi Mi 9 review

20 February 2019
An eventful Mobile Congress might be upon us and it's shaping to be nothing short of a blast. But the first flagship for year 2019 is now out and it's not coming from Spain but China - indeed, we are talking about the Xiaomi Mi 9.

Stellar night mode

Let's stick to our $1000 phones. Less drawbacks means no heartaches.

I am a Xiaomi fan, but for a flagship phone with no OIS??? really??? I'm so disappointed.

Render photos and 360view, different notch.... OWNED.

            look like a oneplus 6t

Mi 9 is basically a copy of Mi 8 with 855 slapped on it.
              Mi 8 cons:
No 3.5mm jack, no microSD slot, no IP rating, no stereo speakers, no wireless charging,Thermal throttling
              4K video recording lacks stabilization

              Mi 9 cons:
              No waterproofing
              Slippery design
No audio port and no stereo speakers
              No microSD slot
              Limited LTE bands
              Lacks optical stabilization

What is the new thing except their ugly UI,no notch, new chipset and tad bit improved camera ?

No ois, no headphone jack, small battery and an ugly notch. Disappointed. Nice chin tho.

lol it looks like they blew their budget on the screen and the main camera took a hit because they just had to use a triple camera setup on such a limited budget

Note to writers that the price for the base model (6GB) is ¥2999, and not ¥3299.

As such, you should decrease your expected price when converting to other currencies.

Anonymous, 20 Feb 2019Great phone but too bad the battery life is average for me,... moreFor twice the cost?! Better get mi 9, charger kit and the wireless battery + a weekend break in Barcelona.

I'm really dissapointed with the image quality. Had much higher expectations. Up close there aren't many details and it still looks like a brush stroke whereas the older P20 Pro makes much more detailed images. But then again the sensor of the P20 Pro is still bigger than the one found in the Mi 9.

                                Dear GSMArena,
have you tried charging speed with PD chargers? QC 4 should be compatible with USB PD 27W profile so it would be interesting to see what speeds are actually achievable.

Software-wise, they'll be probably falling back a step behind by the likes of Huawei or Google because their hardware is a pretty great setup IMO.

Welp, the phone did fall short on some parts, but considering it's price, it's an all round banger to other flagship smartphones.
