Samsung Galaxy S10+ review

Punch out a hole in the display, add an extra camera on the back, do the mandatory yearly updates to the internals and you'd end up with a Samsung Galaxy S10+ - that is, if you started out with an S9+ if it wasn't obvious. Only that would be oversimplifying it, and we'd rather explore the nuances.

No, this test here does not show reality.
Nor putting phones to play games for 1h, 1h of benchmark and 1 hour of youtube.
Youtubers do not simulate daily use.

I doubt you use your phone exactly like his test. That is the point.
He only sees %, not even how many mAh each device spends for each task.

Lets suppose A has 4000 mAh and B has 3500.
A uses 400 mAh to play 30 min youtube, but B uses 380.
A used 10%, while B used 10.8%.
Ppl will think A did better.
But B was better, just have less total battery.
They do not consider that.
Another fail point of these youtube tests.

      GSMArena: are you sure you didn't want to rerun the studio camera test? Your photo comparison shows the s10+ to definitely provide worse quality in both low and good light settings. Currently, your examples show the S7 to be easily superior to the S10 in low light photography.

I have been a regular reader of GSMarena since GSMarena's birth and though I trust their other tests, I find their battery verdicts to be mismatching with my experience with almost all the phones I've used throughout years.

          Sad..

            Wish it was 100% out of the box as that is what I've known and come to expect from Samsung. Actually a huge let down.

              Question was: Does the 91 hours endurance rated by GSM Arena match your real life experience ? That's like 3 day and 19 hours.

              All these conspiracy theories af yours, please wake up from your paranoid.
              It very simple you just put 3 phones next to each other and start making photo's and then compare according your own preferences. Some like natural colors other don't .
              The fact is that the S10+ has a great camera for daily use and a great battery life.
              Altough i wouldn't pay that amount of money.

Guaranteed poor sales.. Don't confuse customers in the name of choices and preferences. Too many variants and most likely software developer updates going to get trickier

                    @gsmarena Very disappointed to see your camera samples and photo comparison tool show s10+ has lens blur problem at the left side but you don't mention it.

                      So, I'll offer myself to be jugde of Masterchef, American Idol or maybe even Tokyo 2020 Gymnastics ....

                      That is why these youtubers do poor photo analysis. Same old speech :

                      - A has more natural colors but I prefer the saturated pics from B
                      - C has more details in the shadows than D
                      - E has more noise than F, but I have no idea if it is bad software or less noise reduction applied and dont care, F wins ...

                      Seeing photos added to a video prevents you to know if photos were edited, if wrong manual setting were used to make A look worse than B. You do not even know if those phones were indeed used.
                      I could easily use my phone and just change white balance, exposition value and distance from subject to pretend I have S10+, G8 and Xperia 1. Then create and upload video.

                      1) How about talking about lens flare, ghosting, cromatic aberration, alising, video bitrate, colour space covered, oversharpening, noise reduction?
                      Even the so bashed DxO ( mostly bashed because iPhone will never end up the year as #1) talks about that.

                      2) How about using same settimgs for those that have manual mode sowe can see most difference from software?

                      3) How about scaling all photos to same resolution to prevent the bigger crop of bigger photos from fooling people?

                      4) How about explaining what CROP FACTOR means, so ppl will stop thinking the aperture value f is same no matter sensor size ? Yes, f1.7 for 1/3" is not same of f1.7 for 1/2" ...

                      "You do not need to be expert to judge photos samples" ....... Now I know why another youtuber did blind tests with many phones and Pocophone was #2 .... Cam that is below 2017 flagships.

                        I really don't understand what people are impressed by with the camera here. My S5 genuinely takes more detailed shots than this so long as i don't use the Samsung cam app. I just compared shots i've taken of grass and branches that can be reasonably compared and the S5 is more detailed and natural looking.
                        Compare the snail photo by the S10 here with the same one taken by the S9 and view at 100% zoom on a proper large display and it's clear to me that the S9 has much more natural detail and sharpness.

                          So what was the point of the release of the S10, aside from the in display fingerprint scanner i don't see any iterative improvements, just the same rehashed thing for 3 generations now, and don't get me started on the price, just dont see a point

                                The fact is that the s10+ has great battery life i expect the same frim the S10.

                                Also according to gsmarena endurance is 91 hours thats like how Many days? Ever seen a phone really lasting for 91 hours? There is your proof, wake up.
