Oppo F11 Pro review

16 March 2019
Once a showcase of Oppo's selfie-centric tech, now the F-series has evolved into a fully-fledged mid-range lineup. And the new Oppo F11 Pro has a lot to show off starting with a notch-less edge-to-edge screen and a 48MP main camera, as well as a pop-up selfie camera and VOOC charging.

My favourite is the Aurora Green colour variant. Also, MediaTek Helio P70 delivers snappy performance in the phone even during my heavy gaming sessions like PUBG or Asphalt 9

Any idea whether this guy will enter the european market (sooner or later)?

        Regards

"...it has a double-gradient back, and it sure looks impressive. It could be enough to forgive the dated microUSB port and the lack of 4K video recording, but the jury is still out on that."

Textbook example of "lipstick on a pig".

Whoever buys this for the "double-gradient back" instead of the features, or lack thereof, is a sad human being.

ColorOS is a hot pile of 💩 and I won't touch anything that runs on it. Oh and microUSB port in 2019. Design, popup camera and notchless screen is good, but it's ruined by the OS and the port. Come on, Oppo.

5T, 17 Mar 2019Sure, you're missing NFC like you ever used it except the r... moreThe option to pay with phones instead of creditcard is becoming more popular.
Samsung Pay, Apple Pay , Android Pay ( i dont remember the new name) , I think Xiaomi has their own too.
No need to leave Bluettoth on, just NFC. Phone just need to touch wireless headphone to turn it on and connect.

In 2016 Sony registered patent of wireless charging using NFC. No idea if it will ever be used.

Anonymous, 16 Mar 2019microUSB IS NOT outdated. The vast majority of accessories ... moreIndeed, microUSB works just fine.
However, we consider it outdated for several reasons.
                              - There is already a superior port available - USB-C - it's superior in convenience (reversible), connectivity (allows USB 3 and HDMI and audio output), and it's more durable (less prone to breaking).
                              - Having both ports in the market makes it harder to share compatible accessories for users as you never know whether your friend or colleague can help you out with the 'right' type of charger connector so end up carrying yours everywhere (flashback from the times of proprietary ports).
                              - Having both ports in the market makes it harder for accessory manufacturers as they have to maintain two product lines and it forces them to optimize for both. They are also hesitant to embrace a wider production of USB-C connected accessories which hurts the options for anyone who's bought a USB-C device.
For us, it's clear that one port must go and the USB-C port is the better one to stay.
So producing new devices with microUSB in 2019 is counterproductive for the consumers and the industry.

microUSB IS NOT outdated. The vast majority of accessories are still microusb, most people have already cables, chargers, adapters and such in home or at work. And come on, it's just a connector. There's no urgent need for the latest, you're a bit paranoid. Sadly they're ditching a very handy universal standard port just a few years after they got rid of those horrible proprietary ports

"the camera software uses Quad-Bayer-like technology that combines four adjacent pixels into one. This results in a sharper 12MP photo with plenty of light, detail and less noise."
That's not true, pixel binning has no advantage over a 12 megapixel sensor of the same size, it just gives you a noise advantage compared with a 48 megapixel sensor. So in extreme low-light conditions it might be cleaner and sharper than a 48 megapixel photo, but there is no advantage over a normal 12 megapixel sensor unless you downsample. Downsampling is not pixel binning, downsampling 48 to 12 megapixels gives you more details in good light conditions than a 12 megapixel sensor, but more noise in the shadows than pixel binning. Therefore smartphones with this sensor don't downsample, they use pixel binning and this doesn't have a detail advantage over 12 megapixel sensors.

At this price you can get sd845(poco f1 and asus zenfone 5z) or get a simila processor(but more power efficient) with samsung a50(again it's a bit cheaper) with super amoled display and usb type c
