LG G8 ThinQ review

09 April 2019
Even though the name states otherwise, the G8 ThinQ is actually a minor hardware refresh of last year’s LG G7 ThinQ. Sure, it has the brand new Snapdragon 855 behind the wheel and a couple of neat (kind of) software and hardware features. But are they enough to battle the newly released Galaxy S10 trio or even the Huawei P30-series? After all, both Huawei and Samsung went along with not one but a couple of cutting-edge awe-inspiring features.

Pie update is very late in Europe though.

LG needs to rethink strategy a bit. IMO i would suspend all K versions and other and focus only on G with entrance, mid, high range devices. Huawei kinda started cheaper phone fashion, but Huawei prices are slightly rising, Xiaomi stays same. IMO high end LG G8 should be 200 Eur cheaper than P30Pro or more. Then it would sell better.

LG G8 think q... Very nice phone, but i doubt it is that different from G6 ThinkQ. Okay android wise, by hardware is incomparable of course.

Anonymous, 10 Apr 2019Because G8s is not worldwide model. why they had to do g8s in the 1st place
do all g8 with 3 cam setup. blow competiton
now I prefer g8 (2 cam setup from the review) instead of p30 or s10, but Im lg fan. what if I weren't one?

The criteria they use for testing battery life is not how people use phones in real life scenarios. LG phones performs better or as good as phones having 4000mah or more in real world.
Also, 79 hours endurance is good enough for a phone to go on without charging for more than 3 days and I doubt people use phone without charging until their phones dies.

What's the purpose of the cutout on the top if it is a chin below?! To look like Apple probably :) Pathetic really!

This seems like a nice phone. But I heard LG is very bad with software updates. Is that really true?

Guys please dont focus only on reviews
I have S9 Plus Exynos version if i use web browsing in 30% brightness for 1 hour my phone will drain 10% in 10 hours the phone will be switched off but in the reviews they saying it will lasts 11 hour 15 mins in 50% brightness
And in reviews they saying we can use s9 plus maximum 32 hours in normal use but in normal use i have used my phone for 51 hours and i plugged in at 20% i have used 80% Battery in 51 hours

If anyone want to know which phone has better battery then go to phone shop take the trial phone on the camera just take a video of bright area in 4k for 10 or 15 mins and see in which phone drops more battery in 10 or 15 mins Lg g8 or Samsung S10

No company has been able to build a perfect phone and most probably no one will. Either you are just hating LG or you are simply a fanboy of Samsung/Huawei/Apple.
currently out of all the phones available in market I found this phone in the top category. it has all the top specs along with 3.5mm Jack. although the endurance is not long enough but it should get better with the size of the battery, maybe a software update would fix that.
I am seriously considering this one to buy as my 6S plus is old enough.

Decisions, decisions... What phone should I get to replace my Nokia 8?

Should I get this phone for the great camera performance and the gimmicks but wait for a few months to be cheaper than S10e?
Should I wait to get a Huawei Mate 30 or wait to get a rumored SD855 Nokia phone?
Or I should be getting Meizu 16S for the first true Allscreen design and the innovative FlymeOS skin?

Do not buy LG phones , I never faced issues like LG on other devices.
I used LG phone which is V20 for 2 years and got Scren burning problem and even I have 2 phones both got same issues, Company says to change LCD for 6k , However I use SONY phones more than 3 years never have issues also on other company phones.
LG is very bad LCD maker.

These OLEDs are much more power hungry than I anticipated them to be.
The XZ3, Sony's FIRST (take note, FIRST!) OLED smartphone, achieves so much better results despite the similarities in specifications (I know it's 6" vs 6.1" vs 6.4", but as if these tiny screen size differences are going to have a big impact on efficiency, and besides, their batteries are larger accordingly, with the XZ3 also being the smallest in capacity).
Have I forgot to mention how many average consumers also preferred the Sony screen more than any other OLED smartphone?? Well that's out of the scope of this topic, but it's only to assure that the display on Sony is really great, as it might be an excuse that the reason why it achieves great endurance is because its display quality is poor.

LG and Samsung need some work on optimizations. It would be dazzling when the Xperia 1 with 4K HDR OLED achieves 80h rating....
