@gsmarena: you praise the P30 and make it clear that competition is limited, yet your review rating for the P30 is lower than the S10/e's. How is it that possible?

Anonymous, 16 Apr 2019well, display, the memory chips(can be from toshiba) and so... moreIn typical Apple fashion, it could be that the design came from them but only get them manufactured in Samsung's manufacturing plants.
Perhaps the memory chips came from Toshiba, though I wouldn't doubt if some are from Samsung, but the modems are either Intel, Qualcomm, or MediaTek only.
I don't remember Samsung making modems or whatever.

Snapdragon chipsets since the SD820 are all very power efficient compared to their rivals, which is a great thing in the long run when doing a lot of heavy tasks.
You see, Kirin 980 needs to have some good cooling system to achieve similar level of performance to the sustained performance of SD855, and that is definitely telling a lot.

Buttery smooth, large screen on a compact body. Just the whole thing and it never seems to run out of juice. Big tick.

You see... Pros and cons.. Dont know why is always colour arrangement under pros, if in my country there is always one or two mainstream colour available. Thats only giving more to pros than cons to balance it out.

Nick Tagataka, 15 Apr 2019Huawei has already included the color temperature sensor on... moreYes it did improve to an extent, but given the AI, I believe they could still improve the white balance, considering it could apply color corrections on specific parts of the image.
Monochrome will definitely not comeback on Huawei phones as they have found no good use of it (I mean it did allow them to be this powerful in smartphone camera game, but they didn't successfully do it right like how Sony did on their first try) and I guess this RYYB setup will remain for the next couple of generations, as I could see that Huawei will be focusing on improving the telephoto camera the most.
I don't think RYBW/RGBW will be as effective at improving low light performance quite as much as monochrome + RGB combo would. Regarding the aligning problems, I suppose that a slightly different focal length would aid the problem.
Say, for instance, the RGB sensor will be 25mm, while the monochrome will be 27mm, and when the images captured by the two will be combined, the RGB image will be cropped to the same focal length as the monochrome and overlay them accordingly. And now that's 3x more light being collected. You would get a slightly narrower FoV end-result, but the overall image will be worth it.
About IMX666, it may not be actually named that way, but there's definitely a sensor with similar specs to that, and it could make its way on a new Xperia flagship.

vrvly, 15 Apr 2019Though xperia1 is not out, it's camera is probably differen... moreDefinitely the Xperia 1 would still fall short of defeating the P30 Pro's tremendous camera setup, but again, I'm not expecting it to do so with its given hardware.
I heard that there's finally RAW capturing support on Xperia 1 (I read it somewhere, but not sure of it) so that could potentially help us to see how good the Xperia 1's camera hardware really is.
And not carrying the 'Premium' branding indicates that the Xperia 1 is not Sony's best yet, which means there could be that one Xperia model with camera system that would rival the one on the P30 Pro and possibly even the Mate 30 Pro as well.
Add 5G modem and large battery to it and we now have a phone to beat in 2019!

Shanti Dope, 13 Apr 2019RYYB is okay, but to correct the colors, Huawei should've a... moreHuawei has already included the color temperature sensor on P30 Pro, and some people are already reporting that the color balance/saturation has been improved through the latest software update. I haven't received one on my P30 yet, but surely the update will be pushed to the non-pro model as well.
It is unlikely that the monochrome sensor will make a comeback to Huawei phones in future. No matter how good the image fusion algorithms are, the aligning errors cannot be solved completely, and at this point it already feels like RGBW sensor will be the better solution all things considered. Heck, you can even speculate that Huawei decided to stick with marginally more light-sensitive RYYB sensor this time around so that they can use RGBW/RYBW sensor next year, but who knows? Oh, and as for IMX666 sensor, I don't think it exists, just like IMX607 didn't.

You will miss though hi res option, zoom and maybe even superb iso. Depends on what you prefer.
Still most of users see it like this: camera ads everywhere + reverse charging + great endurance. I'm all for QHD++ screen, but not everyone is like that, it's on last place after all of that...
