5 megapixel face-off: Vox populi

05 December 2007
It’s been a while since our last cameraphone shootout and you know how much we love them. With all those 5 megapixel cameraphones around, our hands were just itching to make a grand 5 megapixel face-off with as many of the current 5 megapixel cameraphones as possible. The stars in this episode of our Shootout series...

i think it would be better if these people also gave a sample pic from a reliable digital camera in order to judge the color accuracy in each case anyway pics in column C look a tad better colors are vivid and eye candy

        NO!NO! I rank it

1.Samsung = Not to vivid as Nokia nor dull, Just nice/Beautiful.
2.Nokia =Lively and Yummy pictures but over,fake/saturated pictures.
3.LG = Not bad just more to the Blueish side.
4.Sony E = Sad but good pictures , too dull! and lame.

I'm just disappointed with SE with their "Cybershot" Batch compare to their K800/K810 performance. It looks like as Nokia stole their Cyber-shot term. Hope is a wake-up call for SE.

Samsung is just living up to its Name and Standard as the next success or way better of Sony brand, but just to hope not to end up like Sony quality standard.

LG has wanna be the next Samsung but still trying their level best to prove they have what it takes to be in the market.

          LOL, lol.

As I said the results came out as I thought. And most people said K850i is the worst and N95 is the best. I guess I did a bad purchase with this K850i. But the next time I'd buy a new cameraphone I will wait for GSMArena review and MOST important their shootout since their shootout tells you which cameraphone takes better pics. Listen people, this guys here DON'T lie. GSMArena is the best mobile web page !

              cybershot???what the heck..
multi-purpose phone (N95) way better than dedicated camera phone..after all more function..more value for money..
base on pics..even SE fans admit C is the best (although they think its their proud k850-too bad)
Cybershot failed to live up to its expectations...maybe next cybershot phone can overcome this embarrassing failure..

PS: It would have been a lot better if they added Nokia N82 in the shootout. It would win the competition by a mile! Make all the 5MP camphones take pics in complete darkness!! Just to make this SE fanboys shut up

SEE! SEE! I told you that Nokia IS the BEST of the BEST! They've finally managed to beat SE in picture quality. The pics may look oversaturated and surreal, but it is more pleasing to the eyes than the other contenders pics. Of course, I would want my pics to look relaxing to the eyes. It seems like N95 8GB has a built-in Photoshop editor. HAHA!

Thank you GSMArena once again for proving to the people that your site is UNBIASED. But what can we do? Some people are born HYPOCRITIC. Face the facts people! C A B D! And that's final.

And now all the SE funs try to say that in fact k8501 is best...
Now when its all revealed stop placing your scores, its not objective now.
                    I myself thought that C is k850i :)

oh how i love the N-series phones, they are multipurpose, yet still beat the dedicated phones at their own job.

If you look at the thumbnails alone, it's very easy to conclude that the best to worst is CABD. However, if you take time to look at the large images, B will rank the highest. Color is more natural and image is much sharper. C exaggerates the color.

                                I'm impressed with LG Viewty.

The Nokia N95’s photos are quite predictable, its trademark style boosts colors, making them more saturated and occasionally surreal, but someone has to pay and details are gone. At the same time the K850i provides smooth flower outlines with natural colors.
First up, the basics, macro mode. This mode is where the Nokia N95 falls flat, providing poor details, which are vitally important here, and also some items have way too sharp outlines. The effective range for macro makes 10-12 cm, while for the Sony Ericsson K850i is 7-8 cm.
When it comes to general-view photos, it is by no means a draw – the Sony Ericsson K850i does better on the color reproduction front and gives you more details, however in general the Nokia N95’s images look more decent, due to being more, let’s say, more artistic.
On balance, in terms of details the N95 is far inferior to the K850i.
The Samsung G600 is very alike to the Sony K850, while the LG L6 fails to achieve a good average performance.
