I don't understand why people defend XR's screen. Its 720p LCD display. No matter how accurate the color representation is, if the screen is still LCD at $750 while other companies offer OLED as low as a price of $250-$350, you cant call XR a budget flagship phone.

Even though it is 5.8" that is at a 19:9 ratio, so a typical 16:9 video on your 5.5" quite similar to this 5.8" one.
All these new aspect ratios and no one really setting any standard.
Take my wife's 5.99" (18:9) screen, it is similar in the ":9" part as a 5.5", only stretched. At the same time, my 6.39" (19.5:9) is similar to a very stretched 5.5" and far from my old 6.4" which was in a 16:9 aspect ratio

Guys, how come you call 5.8 inch display "small" ? I'm still running oldschool 5.5" and it somewhere near good. Not perfect, but good, so i assume 5.8 will be the same at least.

Of course nobody says so, but going by your logic as long as it has "P" in its name it can be considered as a part of Huawei's flagship lineup. The naming scheme has nothing to do with whether the phone is the true flagship of the company or not, you only should look at its specs to see if it's the case. I'll ask you again, do you seriously think the regular P30 is Huawei's flagship phone when it's inferior to P30 Pro in almost every single possible way on paper?

And Xr is definitely not a midranger, it's in fact a lot closer to the true highend phones than Mi 9.

Is S10e made out of plas... moreUmm, lower-res display, smaller battery, lower amount of RAM in the base model, only 256GB of storage in the highest configuration model compared to S10's 512GB? Do you consider the regular P30 as Huawei's flagship even though it skimps out lots of features that the Pro variant carries? I don't. With your logic P30 Lite is also a flagship because it has "P" naming to it, when it's obviously not.
Also, as for S10 5G, clearly it's going to be sold as more of a "limited edition" that you can experience the future connection technology with, rather than Samsung's true flagship.

Is that what you are saying. iPhone XR, great build quality, CPU and GPU performance comparable with the very best. Camera very good, generally on par with S10e when considering still and video. Battery life similar. iPhone XR is far from mid range

A friend of mine just bought S10e. When comparing both the front and rear camera results with my Pixel 1 XL's, i find that the pixel has better sharpness and color depth. I could be biased or maybe i'm just used to my phone camera's result.
I was interested in the S10e as an upgrade, not so much now.

The XR's display is a no-go for me: when watching content like 16:9 photos in either portrait or landscape mode in full screen, you see those ugly, bright gray borders... also, the notch's hight is not the same as the hight of header of apps (ie. the upper bar), which looks very strange (even if you don't have OCD)
