Smartphone = hardware + software + updates + data security + user experience + customer support + retained value

Smartphones are not just hardware.

AnonD-785631, 22 Apr 2019you remember the Samsung S5 it have headphone jack, removab... moreAgreed. S5 was the pinnacle of smartphone engineering. Any phone with a removable battery could practically outlast the ones from nowadays using spare batteries. Plus, that IP rating showed Samsung was the producer of the Nokia 3310's level of smartphone durability

Sure, there are some unnecessary things they came up with like curved screens and the failures they faced with Note7 and now, the Galaxy Fold, but these show that there's no other brand that has the balls to face failure like Samsung. That's something the overly-hyped Chinese brands like Huawei and Xiaomi didn't do, such a description belongs to BBK Electronics (for bezelless display) and Royole (the first fold-out type foldable phone)

Right now, the Galaxy Fold earned the title of first fold-in phone, even at the cost of a wreck, and it has the potential of becoming much more practical than fold-outs. All they have to do is endure the hatred and keep on innovating

Why did they say that, the phones have both the same price tag? Actually, 680 EUR and 850 EUR.

Sure, let is pore over relatively miniscule differences between hardware, when the elephant in the room is Android vs iOS!

Let's not talk about the (any) iPhone since I won't buy it.

I will go for this S10e (instead of the S10/S10+) as an upgrade to my S7 Edge 128GB. Finally, a FLATSCREEN flagship. Thank you, Samsung.

You guys can pay 200 euro more for S10e if you are missing jack or IP68 rating ( I dont, I like my BT stereo and none of my 6 phones were drown), but I wouldnt spend 800 euro for midranger Xr ...

"S" series fron Samsung is always stand for flagship line up, in this case S10e is the most affordable flagship line that Samsung offer. If you think in that way, then S10 or S10+ isn't flagship aswell because there's coming out S10 5G who adding more 1 camera and a bit fiture and means it better than the previous 3 S10 sibling.

you remember Motorola Z force brand? a shatter proof screen! tbh i don't care about my screen make out of plastic, because it can't break, and 98% people use screen protector anyway so accident scratching your screen it's pretty "irrelevant"

                    - but a phone that sound these good which will probably last forever huh? big Brand don't want that, big brand want you to hustle, to buy a glass sandwich with a processor that you can FLEX then break within years so you can buy a new one!

It would be awesome if Samsung released a successor of that. Maybe the Galaxy A40 will become waterproof next year, at least IPX5 could be used in showers

The Mi 9 clearly much bigger than these 2, i can't imagine put that monstrosity in my pocket,You know people use there phone in the shower all the time and it don't have waterproof, what about 3.5 jack? what the point removing it if they don't have waterproof? how about SD expansion card? Stereo speaker? yes i appreciate chinese phone make affordable phone that have Oled screen and other stuff you can only find in Flagship, but they focus on the wrong stuff, but it sell bcause, idk, people keep flexing their newest and most powerful processor, what do you need that for? ain't a midrange SoC is more than enough for 99.99% application. long story short i want a phone that like the samsung S10e with some mid range processor like 6xx that drop the price down under 400$

beep beep telephone, 21 Apr 2019Why not compare them if the Mi 9 is the superior phone? You... moreBecause it lacks some features not only in ingress protection. There's the audio, selfie camera and the one thing that for some reason piss off the readers here when looking at its specs - USB 2.0 over 3.1

And to me, in my very own opinion, it doesn't have the physical ingenuity that flagships are supposed to have - no 3.5mm jack, stereo speakers, or even expandable storage despite the fact that it isn't waterproof. These are dealbreakers for some, whereas the S10e has all of these and XR at least has an IP rating

Although, I dare say there is quite a feat about the Mi 9 that makes it stand out from even true flagships - the fastest wireless charging around

Anonymous, 21 Apr 2019Flagship needs the best CPU available, IP rating , stereo s... moreFlagship means the best, highest quality product that a company provides to their customers, so it doesn't exactly have to have highest end specs to be called a flagship. OnePlus 6 is the flagship from OnePlus, but it's still an upper midrange smartphone. Both S10e and Xr are in the boundary between high end and midrange, but they're not companies' flagships because both Samsung and Apple sells products that have better specs than S10e and Xr (S10 and iPhone XS).

Without a doubt, S10e is the more superior one but I still wouldn't buy it due to its high price tag. One good reason to own either of them conpared to most flagships is its compact size.
