Sony Xperia 1 review

Sony has completely revamped its Xperia series yet again, and this year the common denominator is the cinematic screen. Every new Xperia smartphone gets a 21:9 panel for the most immersive viewing experience, but the Xperia 1 is special. It is the Xperia Premium reborn, with a large 6.5" OLED 4K HDR display and today we'll get to know it better.

Anonymous, 24 Jun 2019HDR should retain texture and detail, Samsung S10 HDR tend ... moreSamsung does far more aggressive HDR and brings up midtones a lot, but this combined with Samsung's live HDR algorithms introduce tons of noise which have to be hidden by strong noise reduction. Hence you get smeared details on S10+(especially on Exynos variant). Xperia 1 is polar opposite - Backlight Detection barely gets triggered in mid to low light scenes and instead it consistently tries its hardest to emphasise details using over-the-top sharpening, but this again turns out to be destroying fine textures resulting in muddled up details.

By the way, NO DSLR processes images like flagship phones do.

On my Xperia 1 it shows today 37% . I have the phone for about 1 month. It works great. I get 1-2 days usage on the battery depending on how much i abuse it. Could be something wrong? I looked because i've seen your picture and wanted to check. What dows the app do? I have to say, compared to my old XZPremium it takes much better pictures in all situations and the display is awesome. The sound is much better also. I still need to get used operating the tall display but is excellent for reading and browsing.

        Well if he was streaming 3 hours of 4k videos and the phone lasted that long, alongside everything else in his day then yes, it is indeed a good battery life phone.
        It's the world's greatest smartphone :)

          Read it again. They were not complaining about battery life. They were in fact bragging. Saying they didn't understand why they were claiming not that good of screen time because there's was good. And posted screen shots to show they were getting what they think is better results.
          Though they didn't really show much to prove it was bad or amazing.

          You just needed another excuse advertise how amazing you think the device is...

                        That sure is one long phone. Looks odd in the hand, not huge but long.

                          The rating of 4.2 is a bit disapointing after reading the review actually.
