      Love the phone, can't complaint,solid performance in everything. Just 2 points to improcs. I.miss wireless charging. Second: many times the screen keep active while on the phone. The ear or cheek then lresses random stuff on the touch screen. Bit that Might be due to the cover.

        Obviously if Xiaomi, or any other manufacturer, did something like this, then there would - as you say - be a lot of negative press and forum users.

        Even apple got bad press when they actually crippled their old devices that got underclocked due to their tiny batteries loosing too much capacity, and this without waiting until the final firmware the devices would ever receive.

        That said. Any phone from any manufacturer can become buggy after a firmware update. Reset to factory default is the easiest way to fix this. Rolling back to previous firmware version is another, in worst case scenario if the new firmware has some sort of defect. At least until a better one arrives. I haven't heard any of this for any of the phones I've had. This applies to many things, including TVs, PCs etc. Not just smartphones.

        At some occasions we do hear that apple, google and microsoft have to pull back updates after issues being discovered. Both for iOS, Android on Pixels and Windows. It isn't everything that gets discovered before the new firmware/software update is pushed to consumers.

          Fwiw my partners redmi 4x has just had an update and it's absolutely fine, but the problem is (if there actually is one) is knowing what the last update is.

              I am an MI K20 pro user.. the finger print sensor is not good at all. The pop up selfie is no that good either; but i definately do not regret buying it.

                FYI the smartphone industry average failure rate is 3.9%

                In other words 39 out of every thousand smartphones sold, regardless of brand, will on average fail. Some models are better or worse than others. Like the iphone 6 which had a whopping 26% failure rate.

                Back to the 200 000 K20 Pros sold in the first week. Following the industry average about 7800 of them are likely to fail. Either out of the box or prior to it's end of life cycle. This is why we consumers are fortunate enough to have warranties and replacements. Sadly this differs from region to region, but here (Norway) it is five years for electronics.

                My point with notches and dead pixels is a that notches are quite similar to a large group, or island, of dead pixels. My point has nothing to do with screen to body ratio. That's just your assumption.

                My hate, yes hate, for notches has nothing to do with screen to body ratio being lower than a notch and bezel less device. It's that it disturbs the screen, but yes phone manufacturers resort to notches to increase screen to body ratio trying to please spec wh*res. I'd much rather take a full bezel than a notch, as bezels does not disturb the screen.

                Mi Mix is not a flip phone, it's a slider. . . Or at least a slider for those who take selfies, so for me it's just another candy bar smartphone. The upcoming new (again) Motorola RAZR will likely be a flip phone.

                I get that you are quite caught up in spec sheets, hence your focus on stb ratio and snapdragon this and that. I really don't care at all about these things, just that it works without slow downs, doesn't look or feel old and most importantly that my screen is un-interrupted.

                I'm glad your happy with your new phone. For me the oneplus with notch could never work, but I'm glad it does for you. I'm just trying to enlighten you about smartphones and failure rates, and how you shouldn't cry like a little child because you were unfortunate. It happens. I've had the unpleasantness of unboxing two brand new TVs in the 2000-3500$ range, both failed out of the box. Does that mean than the manufacturers (Samsung and Sony) are unable to build quality devices? No, it just means that I was the unlucky one those times. It's a lot more of a pain to return something that huge than a tiny little smartphone :-)

                If you get a defective device, then you "won" that lottery. Return it and get a new. It's that simple.

                    Yes, Samsung really needs to work on the QC of the displays they make. At least it is clear that they don't provide better batches to themselves vs their customers. Especially on their edge/infinity display models it's much too common with dead pixels on the sides. Generally speaking this is more of an issue with AMOLED than on LCD. Same with burn-in issues over time. But AMOLED is much thinner and makes for lighter devices and lower power consumption, so it has its upsides.

                      If I knew I could not inject code into the kernel, because of "LOCKED" BOOTLOADER, I would never have touched. Everyone, leaves out that point.

                      Perhaps it's the 1% of red hat engineers and developers which are attracted to mods.
                      Anyway sounds like your feelings are heart, obviously your well attached to your "closed book" device, however I'll stick with OnePlus 7T as mentioned smashed Xiaomi's benchmarks way out of the park!! and... I can view their source code for exploits (fun, fun )

                        Dead pixels is also something that can happen on any device with a display. In this case, blame Samsung. They're the ones who made the display.

                        There's zero dead pixels in my Mi Mix 3 and everything else works perfect. Best part, no notch ruining my display. How many dead pixels would be the equivalent to that notch of yours? ;-)

                          So No it's not any device, that is a 200% fail rate I have experienced, so yes, it's worth crying over and communicating it. And the very fact Xiaomi have gone down the Apple and Sony path of not allowing their customers to hack the Operating System without being illegible to unlock the bootloader is so Dystopian Chinese,

                          Your Device sucks dude! really, really sucks! I'll enjoy my OnePlus 7T while you soak up your questionable quality, most definitely slower than a OnePlus phone.

No one has 0% failure rate. Get it fixed and stop crying about it like it's the only phone in history with a fault.

                              Hardware Problems!! Had a 9T Mi for 1 month, it's in pristine cond, never been near water, never dropped, not 1 minor hair line scratch. Power button intermittently fails to function, and Vol Up is completely dead! Vol up fails hardware test, and 'cause it's faulty, when rebooting it loops into recovery! the only way to boot up is hold Vol Down! No factory reset resolves it, cannot downgrade, upgrade to European, or Liniage cause the BOOTLOADERS are locked, and theres a 100+ hour wait. You must stay logged into Xiaomi cloud or loose root/bootloader access!!!!! Last Xioami I ever buy!. I have owned OnePlus1,3T 5, Samsung S3, S4, S5, Pixel XL, and all lasted, still have em! Xioami is questionable quality,

                                      Issue: Pop up camera is on, at that time if I go back to home screen and then again open the camera, pop up camera on but screen has blur image. I have to switch in other camera option, then again back to pop up camera, its working. For only this scenario has a bug.

                                      I think its a software bug. what you think?
