A height of 158mm is not compact. It's not. Give us a real successor to the XZ2 Compact with a height of 140mm or less and wireless charging and I'll buy it.

I love this phone, great size and seem excellent battery, but it's possible that they will sell at not so great price at HK$5988 (US$768) estimated which is more expensive than xperia 1 at HK$5699 (US$731), unless they will include decent wireless earphones as freebie during launch, i might consider huawei p30 pro which is currently at HK$5300 for 256gb and 8gb ram, unbelieve price, rather sad considering, i have had xperia phones since Xperia arc in 2011 and even longer, my first sony ericsson s700 which was in september 2004

in real life Xperia is bett... moreThis is one of the relatively better made (i.e. demonstrating knowledge of how to assess image quality) videos, but I still noticed two blurred shots that were supposed to be discarded in a comparison, and EXIF should have been included.
Also I don't think it says Sony is "better in real life". It says Sony's 4K video is better at night while Pixel's 1080P is better and its auto at night is *sometimes* better than Pixel 3's auto, but doesn't surpass Pixel's night sight, to nobody's surprise. On the 4K version of the video I watched on my FHD screen(oversampling helps negate YT compression), I noticed two examples, including the one at the end of the video, in which Pixel's auto is still better than the Xperia's.
Ultimately, because the nature of web video codecs is lossy, I still recommend assessing only full size still samples when comparing image quality. This video, even at 4K, still masks some of Sony's strange processing that results in a fuzziness that looks like noise but is not, which is not present in any other manufacturer's products.
When you look at this set of samples you'd see that the Pixel still retains an advantage.

Well, that's nonsense. Hitting a round corner sends part of the force into flattening the curve, putting outward force on the frame. Hitting a square corner sends the forces along the frame edges, which is less likely to cause damage. Round corners were an Apple marketing gimmick which, of course, caught on just like notches.
I'm reasonably careful with phones and the only breakage I ever had on an Xperia was when I was pushed into a sharp edge on a stone column, hard enough to bruise a rib, and the Z1C caught in the middle cracked its screen protector. But I know someone with a Z5C who has broken 3 screen protectors, the corners are dinged - but the screen is undamaged and it just carries on working.

About square corner, just get it in hand rather than making claim, that's all I will say =)

I mean I have been using the z2 for 4.5 years when it came out. After that I switch to the xz2 because the front panel was coming out slowly.

Previous Sony phones were really not a thing to be a fan of. I would say these one at least work fine, and the camera can be more appealing than competitors depending on what you are looking for.
