Google Pixel 4 XL review

29 Oct 2019
The Google Pixel 4 duo was not Google's best-kept secret. We saw pictures of the phone weeks before the event, and we even learned about Face unlock while Google teased the Motion Sense features ahead of its event. The Google Pixel 4 XL represents everything that Google has learned in the first four iterations of the Google Pixel, including a mid-cycle and mid-range Pixel 3a which was very well received.

Crackling Doom, 31 Oct 2019So many cons and you still give it a 4/5 stars? lol wow. ... moreWhy so salty? Not sure anyone is forcing you to buy it...! Unconvinced about the review as using the 7T Pro which whilst aesthetically very pleasing I can't really connect to other for basic functional purposes. Will be getting the Pixel 4XL tomorrow, hopefully. P.S. I do not find the battery on my Oneplus7t Pro exceptional, see link below, it ran out quicker than the P 4XL in real time test...

Very good review, especially the conclusion and the pros and cons.

However ,no way does this phone deserve a 4/5 rating .Makes me think Google paid for that rating (rating only ,not review) or maybe GsmArena are scared of the consequences of giving this phone a 2.5 or 3 rating which is what it deserves.

Why are they using a app to test for battery?! Why don't they actually use the phone? Real life people aren't using an app to see how long their battery last!

I'm on day two of using the Pixel 4XL and I get about 16 hours battery life. I haven't turned on the battery draining features yet, but I do use the phone for about 6 hours of navigation, 6 hours of music, internet here and there and an occasional video or game...

Start testing the phone in real life... You're suppose to be testing the phone... Not an app.

"To accomplish this task, Safari receives a list of websites known to be malicious from Google, and for devices with their region code set to mainland China, it receives a list from Tencent. The actual URL of a website you visit is never shared with a safe browsing provider and the feature can be turned off”

"Apple offered ZDNet a further description of how the system works. It says Google and Tencent are “sending a copy of the database to a user’s browser and letting the browser check the URL against this local database,” so traffic never actually reaches those companies. It also says that Tencent’s blacklist is only used inside mainland China where Google domains are banned"

            You're welcome.

Lol coz Android is simply better and provides that EXTRA whether it is in features, software, hardware or functionality and security.
iOS is a functionally challenged brick

I have a iphone 6s as a secondary phone from all the way back from 2015. It still hasn’t slowed down, nor the battery has degraded that significantly that it’s intolerable. It’s still in 80% capacity. And coming to updates, why do you blabber with air head? Updates are not always about features. It’s about optimisations and compatibility boost with app updates, security fixes, bug smashes, and other error improvements that arise from time to time. About features, lol.. why do android users think they have something extra over ios. Infact name it.. what is one feature in android that ios doesn’t have that is worth switching to android. ? Do you know why? Because you Think ios is still in ios 11.. no 2 years have passed with tons of extra features

I for one love my pixel xl4 , the design is different feels very premium in hand and at the same time it's grippy you don't feel like it's going to drop. The matte finish on the back looks amazing , the face unlock is flawless. The higher refresh rate does matter on games and is just as good as my one plus 7 pro. The software is just amazing as usual the camera is a significant improvement on the pixel xl3. The 6gb ram make everything you do smoother. There seems to be a conspiracy against pixel phones all over the internet these days. I have the Samsung s10 , one plus 7 pro and pixel XL 4 , and I rate the pixel XL 4 the best of the bunch.

SpiritWolf, 30 Oct 2019You recommend Pixel 4 over Mate 30 Pro? Are you on drugs or... moreIf you consider the current situation Huawei is placed under, there is no way that you can recommend Mate 30 Pro to average consumer. The only reason why I'm saying this because Huawei is currently banned from using Google Services on their newer phones, if there wasn't such restriction then my opinion would've been polar opposite and I would've recommended Mate 30 Pro over Pixel 4 any day, since it's quite literally better than Pixel in every aspect apart from the screen resolution like you say.

Imagine the battery on the standard sized model

Even Mate 30 Pro, Note 10+, OnePlus 7/T & 7/T Pro, S10+, Xperia 1/5, and iPhone 11 Pro/ Max are an even better option than Pixel 4 (XL), as they're too much disappointment and compromises on Pixel 4 than the mentioned phones or even the predecessor (from removal of Pixel Imprint, unreliable Motion Sense Face Unlock, no ultra-wide-angle to no unlimited photo backup at original quality and disastrous battery life)
