And gsmarena just published the scores without actually double checking it.

So did anyone actually make a purchase and test it out in real life? I'm quite interested in Mi Note 10 because everything sounds quality. Watched the launch online and it was like 550 Euro or $610 USD. Then I saw Gearbest is offering this model at $499, which is a lot cheaper, but the quantity is limited. Any advice? Should I go for it? Thanks, everyone.

Anders, 06 Nov 2019Endurance rating of 95hrs is pretty disappointing consideri... moreYou buy this for the cameras, not anything else. Nothing on the market with such cameras is so cheap. Almost everything is almost twice as expensive. It is a camera phone, the first th as t Xiaomi tries/tried. It's better than I expected, worse than how people expected (espec the battery life, which I expect would become better w future MIUI releases, no excuse to have a 5AH phone perform so badly in that department).

It is just as good as DSLR in the same price range. Even when you zoom in on a photo, it is still good, as good as it would be if it was taken by a DSLR. Low light photos are also good. At least that's what I see when I judge sample photos from GSM arena.

Zoom in on this image, detail still remains good in the focus area.

                        https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_note_10-review-2020p6.php#image40
Night photo, zoom in on it, detail still looks great.

All in all, I would say this phone camera is on a level of P30 Pro, and it's cheaper.
And an important note: these sample photos were shot on auto mode. It would get even better if it was on manual and if they experimented with all the available settings.

Anonymous, 06 Nov 2019The way this camera works is it takes photo at 108mp and th... moreWrong, pixel binning isn't software here. Pixel binning happens on a hardware level and reduces read noise. Pixels are combined on a hardware level. In 27 megapixel mode this camera behaves like a traditional 27 megapixel Bayer sensor whereas in 108 megapixel it behaves like a Quad Bayer sensor, which produces a lot of demosaicing artifacts. Due to read noise and due to the demosaicing artifacts you will get a much worse result when you downsample 108 megapixels to 27 megapixels. The only advantage is slightly more details, but you get artifacts and more noise.

Anonymous, 07 Nov 2019Let me remind everyone that this is not a DSLR. You cannot... moreWrong. The lens is sharp and physically the hardware is equivalent to a Canon Aps-c camera with 15mm f/3.7 OIS lens in low-light conditions. Many people don't know how much light Xiaomi's camera captures. It captures as much light per time as a 1/2.55" type sensor with f/1.0 OIS lens!! So there's no excuse. The hardware should resolve much more detail in low-light, but Xiaomi uses a ton of noise reduction.

Let me remind everyone that this is not a DSLR. You cannot expect to zoom in to a night photo and have noise free, full detailed picture. Camera phones are photos intended for social media. It's for viewing on your phone, tablet, and computer. It's not for zooming, cropping, and making posters.

wtf with that battery performance, is it because unoptimized of MIUI 11 or what

Anonymous, 06 Nov 2019Is it possible to take 27 megapixel raw photos? The way this camera works is it takes photo at 108mp and then pixel binned it to 27mp for tighter visual. Taking raw picture at 27mp will give you less detail. If you shoot at 108mp and process it yourself, the result won't be that much better, according to the review. This is a camera phone, it's not a DSLR. If you want to post-process then get a real camera.

                                        Horrible battery performance
