Flexible OLED is expensive stuff.

This foldable flip phone as of now is an incredible concept, but overpriced phone. If Motorola drops the price for the RAZR by $300-500, then this phone may sell like its original V3 and if so, Motorola will be back on the smartphone market.

People never realize the importance of that chin as it holds most of the parts inside, a Fingerprint scanner, Stereo speaker grills and a thumb or finger rest as the top part of the chin is curved to ease the stress. Speaking of stress, the chin also has a compartment that when you fold the phone, the lower part of the screen enters to the compartment inside to destress the display hence the lack of a crease.
Your offenses for the chin that should be removed just because it's 2019 is weak.

The only thing I would like to do with this phone is to play with it for 5-20 minutes just to check how the foldable tech was applied.
But honestly, the phone is ugly (very thick bezels for 2019) and appears to be a device of the past and not in a nostalgic way.
Where is the next big thing?

Motorola has found a way to fold the screen that make least crease. And it can closed completely without a gap.
I hope Samsung can implement this in the next Galaxy Fold (the horizontal tablet style)

Brilliant concept looks amazing. But ridiculously over priced. And let's face it mid range specs. If this was around £800. They just thought oh Galaxy Fold £1800 we will make a phone for the same price. Half the specs and people will buy it lol

Very good opening paragraph. The Razr is a return of an icon. But unlike say the Nokia 3310 from 2017, this is both a revival to the form factor and a reboot thanks to the modern twist of having a foldable display and Android.
There was a Motorola Droid Razr Maxx but that wasn't really a Razr but more of another Droid carrying the name only. This device is also more lust worthy than the KeyOne from two years ago. I think physical QWERTY is archaic.
Yeah, we all called them flip phones back then. I refuse calling them a clamshell. I think of clams and food containers on the go. Pre-iPhone, flip phones was all rage in the United States.
Motorola was actually the most popular OEM in the US up until RIM took it briefly by 2009. Nokia became #1 globally by 1998 but Motorola was still the most popular OEM in its home country. Nokia was never big in the US. Never wanted to cater to it.
I believe by 2012 is when Apple became the most popular OEM in the US because iPhone 5 was released for all major carriers. The 4s was available for Sprint but never for T-Mobile. Apple is still the most popular OEM in the US. It's also the cheapest place to get them.
Motorola can resurrect itself in America if it can dominate the flip phone form factor again. I would love them to remake the KRZR, PEBL, and Aura. There is so much potential reviving the flip phone. They just never stood a chance against iPhone 15 years ago because they couldn't put an entire touchscreen and were only dumb phones. Foldable solved it.
My next phones has to be either the new Razr or Surface Duo. It can not be another boring slab. When I see rumors of the Samsung Galaxy S11, I yawn and ignore it.

No camera samples? I know it's an outdated sensor, but we've seen it perform well on the OnePlus 6.

They had patents of vertical flip before though, and announced they should have 3 foldable devices by the end of next year.

This so far is the ugliest device with foldable screen, more so than Flexpai. And the tiny battery and the missed opportunity to put a high end camera in that huge chin.

While the concept is better put into practice then the Samsung's I feel they missed the mark with a lot with some stupid self imposed limitations : eSim ? really ? (Only Orange supports eSim in my country,Vodafone and Telecom don't among the others) Non flagship chipset for a highly over priced pice of tech ... won't help with aging ... but then again maybe they don't expect it to live long past warranty. Why the notch if you can use the rear screen when taking photos ? No jack... meh ...
At the price they are asking for it I expect to check every box if i were to pay this much for a phone ...

its a great concept but the phone doesn't look clean due to the hinges giving a crude look. not sold on 1500 USD phone that looks so untidy. they need to clean it up

Very nice. This could be the next trendy phone to have. Not everyone can buy it at that price, but thats the point! And its not a clunky or even ugly phone like a Galaxy Fold. This is actually very functional and stylish. Sure its hard to operate with one hand, but how often do you operate anything with a 6" screen using one hand. If people are willing to pay this much for a phone, carriers will make the esim work - they do with apple watch. If this is successful I hope they make a cheaper, maybe smaller, version.
