I have to agree with the restart and hang problems.
The music sounds great, with the 3.5mm jack I can use headphone or in ear plugs. better than a bluetooth connection any day.

You can add tomtom go mobile to it, so you wont need a conection to look at maps (like you would with google maps), the maps will be on the phone, You will be able to listen to your music, it has a good camera, You will be able to install msn live, gmail, or indeed google maps if you prefer, whatever you want on it.

I hope everyone who has this phone can eventually manage to update the firmware to v5.81. I know network operators may slow the process but if they are they are stopping you from having the best phone going! The volume issues are sorted, no more cracklin/popping during mp3 playback either. Some fresh font (in writing messages and mp3 player). Equaliser seems more accurate and deeper sounding. Oh and the camera is much faster! Yay! I took mine to Nokia service centre as it was hanging before loading up (basically it was a paperweight!) but they put v5.81 on it. I'm on Orange UK network. So get updating people! You cant stop this phone now, slim, 3.5mm jack, takes big memory cards, camera is FINE, sweet screen. The best series 40 phone (to me anyway!)

Had the phone a week, battery lasts about 3-4 days with a fair bit of use each day ( half a dozen phone calls, about 30 txts a day or so, bluetooth on only now and again) camera aint that bad for only being 2mp and no flash, it really is good during day shots, if you want pics taken at night, get a digi camera...its a phone remember!! music via the speakers really is good, my mum got the SE w890 at same time but that phone sounds very tinny in comparison. the option to change sms alert tone (no can do with samsungs) is a bonus, 3.5mm jack as used with ipod nano is cool too so can easily link to car stereo if aux in available. only £99 on orange payg. not had the shutdown/restart problem as mentionned (yet!) this would be my recommendation if ya want a PHONE and a mp3 player in one, not normally a nokia fan (more a S.E fan) but like this a lot :)

Guys, to end the restart problem of 5310 type of Nokia phones just don't put too much data or music/video files on the SD card, there is a refresh sequence this phone applies to the SD card every while, and when it finds too much data on the card it hangs for a second then being unable to solve the hang it restarts... so just to check on that don't put the SD card and you will see the phone working just fine... tip: just keep your SD card half loaded...

Well this phone seems so good. I had the chance to test this beauty last saturday (since this mobile arrived to my country just the last week) and it´s great. The fact that is a lot cheaper than w880 and has twice the memory card and is upgradable up to 8gb makes me think more in this option. well done Nokia

I had this phone for a few days but returned it. this phone suffers from little audio crackles when playing music. sometimes 3-4 times per track but often every few seconds. i tried adjusting the eq, lowering volume, different file formats, upgraded firmware to 3.63, everything i could think of but no luck. i sugest you check this before buying. and do a google search. or see this http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/discussions/board/message?board.id=phones&thread.id=29411&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

some people dont seem to have this problem but a lot do.

Another complaint is that the volume increments are very large, so at one setting the volume is to low but then one step up and its too loud.

Also wish it had a flash and torch light like my old se w810i

Apart from that i really like the phone, really nice and thin. battery life was good. About time they started using a standard 3.5mm jack, one of the main reasons i baught this phone. great screen and themes. camera was very slow but picture quality was pretty decent, even in low light.

well ive gone back to my w810i. no 3.5mm jack and feels like a brick after this but it works for mp3s and has autofocus and a torch. i wish there was a phone that has it all but i guess i will have to wait.

are there anyone here who has successfully sync their 5310 with Mac OS X? i am really interested by this phone, but since nokia is known for its inability for direct syncing with mac, doubts begin to spur...

It doesnt matter whether the camera is bad all that matters is the radio and the player for the music lovers. The weight is unbelieveable but good. But am not sure abt the restarting problem bse i wanted to buy it this month.

                              SHOULD I GO AHEAD!!!!!!????

Nice phone. Audio quality of this phone is even better than my ipod touch. My phone doesnt have any problem of restarts at all. If you want a music player with phone capabilities n5310 is the best.

It's a great phone. Been two week with this phone and overall I'm impressed. Camera is weak and slow but it's no camera phone. Get a SE K series for camera. For music, this one is way beyond most SE W series I've tried. Better get a serious music headset (I'll try a dBE-01 or CrossRoads X3i tomorrow) and for much much less than an iPod and a comparable phone, you get a 2-in-1 killer phone for music everyday. I've no need for complicated series 60 Nokias (N series). Easy to use, nice design.

One drawback though, battery life could be bigger but slim design must restrict battery capacity.

                                      Thumbs up!
