On paper, Realme looks like a promising choice, but on reality, me and most likely every other people in my country are gonna have to go with Redmi N8Pro. Simply because Realme X2 isn't available in my country .. lolz

Pro tip to get all out Realme X2 screen colors accuracy, enable gentle mode. I must say one of the most accurate colors production I've seen on phone.

Anonymous, 03 Jan 2020Everything about today's phones is planned obsolescence, lo... moreTrue. Phones are really meant to be disposable after only two years. At least the Chinese helped us get bigger batteries, which gives fewer charging cycles and longer battery life, even though they aren't easy to replace when they eventually need replacement.

Even the base iphone (11) now has more than 3000 mAh battery capacity. iphone 8 had only 1800 mAh and with X it increased by almost 50% and now even more. I doubt it would have happened if not for the Chinese and their massive batteries.

TimApple, 04 Jan 2020I'm not typing out another essay, just read this: https://w... moreDid you even read the reddit? It is in my favour.

So this "old" reddit talks about whether or not 1440p (QHD) had any benefit on old (small) devices to actually run at "native" resolution. And the whole point was that the best solution on those pentile QHD(+) panels is to keep the QHD matrix, but run at FHD display setting, because then it is closer to working as an RGB panel . . . And says straight out that calling those QHD/1440p pentile panels for 1440p is a lie, as it is more like 1080p and a third (the extra third being only green). Sadly, even this isn't completely accurate.

Let's take the S7 mentioned in the reddit which has a QHD resolution - but not really.
                            1440 x 2560 in pentile meaning
                            3686400 green sub pixels
                            1843200 blue sub pixels
                            1843200 red sub pixels

For it to be a 1080p and a third it would need 2073600 red and blue sub pixels. It does not have this. So in fact even a 1080p RBG panel is sharper than 1440p pentile and can display all colors on all pixels, all 2073600 of them.

Do you know what would be even better than a pentile QHD set to operate at FHD to emulate a RGB matrix? If it actually was a RGB matrix on the panel, even in FHD. In other words, FHD(+) RGB AMOLED/LCD over both FHD(+) and QHD(+) pentile amoled.

The only reason why Samsung, and other AMOLED manufacturers, use pentile is cost cutting. LG jumped ahead on resolution and sammy had to keep up, but couldn't with RGB, hence a slight cheat with pentile was the solution. And still is. If only Samsung could learn to not care about LG's resolution race, especially now that LG isn't really relevant anymore, then their own flagships could possible be running FHD+ RGB AMOLED today, just like the S2 once had RGB AMOLED.

The Moto X also had Sammy's (I think) RGB AMOLED panel. If it was possible in 2013 to fit a HD RGB AMOLED into a tiny 4,7" phone, surely it should be possible in 2020 to fit a FHD+ RGB AMOLED into today's 6.4" (and bigger) phones. Those closing in on 7" should be able to fit a QHD+ RGB AMOLED.

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2020Please reply and let me know. You need to look at prices of both in your market If the price difference is something like $100 then just go with the cheaper one.

The realme X2 will have a better update path, less heating, better display and much faster charging. I would recommend the X2 and well worth the extra $30 to $50, that's the answer, said that the note 8 pro definitely remains a viable alternative very comparable to the X2 and you can save yourself a few bucks in case you feel like it.

The device will last you 2-3 years one way or the other and a properly used oled display will provide better user experience in that period. furthermore, with 5g coming and the new wave of apps with it, the only ones needing to care for older phones will be recycling factories.
