Because there is a wide angle lens... Put auto focus on the already higher megapixel lens and bam you have a macro camera...
Instead of wasting time with 2mp macro manufacturers could at least use a 2mp dedicated low light lens instead which makes so much more sense

"Macro lenses on phones have possibly been the worst trend in cameras on phones in 2019..." no they are not! though 2MP may be a little too low however they are pretty fun to use when they are of more quality...

You didn't mention this being the most affordable phone in India with UFS 2.1 storage - that's a major selling point and a glaring omission. OS is cancer but the specs are incredible.
