Samsung also has ALOT to learn, it failed miserably with the galaxy fold when it had problems with the screen, gap and the hinge. Secondly you have the Galaxy Z flip. many people thought samsung with be making it better with foldable "glass" and turns out the foldable glass cracks from the hinge and there is a huge bump at the hinge witch feels very weird to the touch.
Huawei did an impressive job with Mate X totally different and fresh design from Samsung fold and way better idea imo. Having a normal big screen smartphone when folded and then when unfolded you have a similar size ipad mini. With the Mate XS they made the hinge even better, simple, less complex and more durable, they used Zirconium-based liquid metal in key parts of the eagle wing structure. The strength of this material is no worse than that of titanium alloy, which makes the hinge more reliable. plus a screen with double-layer aerospace-grade polyimide flexible material film.
Which more durable than Samsung Fold and the FlipZ.
Both Samsung and Huawei are huge and impressive companies, no wonder why both of them are in the top best smartphone companies in the world.

There is a book (PDF) "High-Performance Plastics for the Aircraft Industry" read it before talking nonsense please. Aerospace-grade polyimide is very expensive for a reason, its not just plastic.
BTW The normal plastic that you buy and cover your gorilla glass screen. Still can resist coins, keys and nails for many years.
On the other hand the "plastic" used in Mate XS is aerospace-grade and durable layer which means it's way more durable than normal cover plastic that you cover your $500-$1000 smartphone lol. Look at the glass used on Galaxy Z flip, it failed miserably, breaks in half at the hinge.

It may be the best plastic in space, but its properties remain those of plastic. There are videos that show that it behaves just like the Fold where a coin or your nail can make a dent.

you see this is the problem with companies like huawei they dont understands how cellphone logistics works. i will tell you why. the first huawei mate x went ballistic to attack samsung. they threw everything on the phone and people said wow!! ok fast forward to today. they release the same old mate x and call it mate xs, no improvements at all. their first mate x is all at loss because people now want the new one. samsung understands that when you bring in a new product on the market you dont have to rush and throw a+ grade specs you have to sacrifice some departments and leave room for the years to come. thats why they put a small oled screen in the front, and makeit thick, it was a well planned business idea. this is why samsung mobile department has survived since 1985 and is still going strong. many companies rush to beat samsung but look at where they are now. samsung has smart business people, very smart. the upcoming galaxy fold will be a huge leap and people are going to love it and buy it. its going to sell like hot cakes, the first galaxy fold made profit the next will be amazing. people are going to buy it because of noticeable improvements. leave room for tomorrow dont rush. truly huawei is still a child in this business. they have got a lot to learn.

This is probably the best foldable smartphone on the market right now, best smartphone/tablet hybrid! It seems the crease is less visible!

Plastic front and 2,5k price... madness. There will be no fitire for foldables if price wont drop to at least 1k. Srly who needs 512gb of storage, and 12gb of ram...
We need affordable foldable with decent specs not top ones
