Camera hardware is just mindblowing, software not make use most of it. Ultrawide photos are just excellent.
But without google store people won't buy it. And for me it lacks good stereo speakers too.

Problem with night photos is the shutter is too fast.
Other brands have different ways to do it.
1) low iso and slow shutter (between 1s - 1/4s) : depends how dark is the place, photo can come out bit underexposed
2) not that slower shutter (1/8s - 1/16) with more Iso: photo will be brighter, but bit noisier and maybe issues with light sources.
Many of these photos are shutter 1/30s - 1/50s

Anonymous, 26 Mar 2020"By default, this camera outputs 12.5MP shots with a report... moreIt's very surprising that Huawei is doing that. So the super large 75mm² sensor is actually misleading for most people because the default mode doesn't use such a large sensor area and only uses 9 megapixels. It's not clear whether one can take photos with the total sensor area in pixel binning mode at 23mm or whether it will use data from the ultra wide angle camera.

looks smart, great design, brilliant specs. but depending of how you look at launching a phone this current climate is either, commercial suicide or marketing genius. im not sure which one. if it had google services, and google support I can honestly say this would go down a storm in uk. Hell china needs some serious good vibes now

Nick Tagataka, 26 Mar 2020"The colors are completely off with some weird red tint"
"... moreMaybe you need to get your eyes checked.
There is a huge difference in those two images.
P40 pro produces way darker images but then that is what you can expect from a small sensor. S20 ultra has way better dynamic range and details. Noise is also incredibly low for telephoto.
And gcam works on Exynos as well.
Have s10 running gcam. Only front camera portrait mode doesn't work.
Rest works beautifully. Besides you don't need fully functioning gcam, like I could care less if the photosphere feature worked or not or whether video quality through gcam is better or not.
I utilize gcam only in low light mode for images. Rest is done through stock.
Same way ppl on S20 ultra will utilize gcam for telephoto lens, for rest, there is stock camera. You can keep begging Huawei for better performance which simply isn't possible with small sensor. Only gcam can transform things for Huawei telephoto in low light. Unfortunately, Huawei locking bootloaders locks out full potential of this device.

Gsmarena, it would be interesting how the image quality is when you choose 23mm (not 27mm) in pixel binning mode. Does it use the ultra wide angle camera or the main camera in pixel binning mode at 23mm? For example the P30 Pro relied basically on its main camera at 125mm in the default mode (and fused some data from its periscope camera). It switches to the periscope camera at 135mm in the default mode.

All that is a great, but what should convince me buying this over OPPO Find X2!?
Huawei has bad reputation now, and it could catch some market share outside of China, only with lower prices.
I can see myself buying one in 6months for like a half of this price.

Why would anyone buy this? Overprocessed photos, high price for what it is and no Google Services....
Get a Samsung, an Apple, a Pixel for better images. Or get the cheaper Xiaomis. All with Google Services and without the shady pedigree.
