I jolly well hope the Microsoft Surface Duo will cost substantially less.

Essen, 14 May 2020Don't know if I am the only one but isn't the point of fold... moreBecause being compact when folded is /not/ the point of these foldable phones. That was the point of foldable phones 15 years ago.

I'm not over here dying for pocket space with my current 6" phone. Which means having a 3" phone /sometimes/ and a 6" phone unfolded makes the 3" version useless.

However, having a 6" phone sometimes (which fits just fine in pockets), and a 12" phone (a tablet) sometimes makes it useful in both modes.

love the idea of these but couldnt live with that crease. Foldable phones have a hell of a long way to go before they can be mass market.

Don't know if I am the only one but isn't the point of foldable phones to be compact when folded and large when unfolded? Why are all foldables large when folded and massive when unfolded? Or in case of the Moto not usable when folded and large when unfolded?

Actually, i love that Gsmarena is giving a complete analysis of the software. I would like to see them do this for future reviews.

So which foldable do I want, a foldable phone that has display with questionable scratch resistance and damn poor battery life, or a foldable tablet that is unusable as a phone, shows annoying screen crease and only packs ok-ish cameras? I would say NEITHER, thanks.

Both Mate X and Galaxy Fold are half-baked products with a lot of compromises (Though to be fair, neither of them are terrible for a first gen. product). I'll stick to the conventional form factor for a next few years, wake me up when the technology is fully matured.

As for now, the most practical approach to foldable is LG dual screen applied on V60 and a year older G8x.

It's not perfect but neither fragile by no means

Nice! A glimpse into the future. Would like to play around with this. I have had a play around with the Galaxy Fold and it was pretty good.

There was days Huawei used to make good Products,

Now Good hardware with no Proper support is of no use...!

Android Services are not available are the biggest worry if you choose this device..

                                The worst design.
When you hold it folded , palm of your hand will be touching screen.
Any little dirty on hand will scratch screen.

Outer screen is a very bad-dumb idea-design, just that, a half baked ill experiment, no more

As far as first-gen products go, this isn't bad at all. (It is only a refinement of the first Mate X, so it is fair to call it first-gen). Obviously it has some compromises due to technical reasons, but they were expected in the first place. This device is just the beginning of a new form-factor that will likely take over in a few years. Keeping that in mind, I think Huawei has done a decent job on it. I look forward to see how things improve over the years.
