What I mind is just not testing out the main advertising features of the phone.

For ex, they test the portrait mode, instead of portraits from main cam that produces well balanced natural bokeh portraits due to its sensor AF and iToF.

Go to official phones site and see the banners, their supposed selling points, and then compare to this here.

AnonD-937325, 03 Jun 2020If this phone's panel is also made by Samsung, that's kinda... moreNot a matter of who made the panel or what. It's how the panel is used by a certain manufacturer.
Sony also used LG OLED for their TV, but their picture processing is far more advanced than anyone else, making it the best OLED screen TV in the market today.

Besides, I'd like to see a valid proof that it is indeed a Samsung panel. I did search for it, and found no real evidence that it was indeed from Samsung.

PotatoHead, 03 Jun 2020That's the thing. Burn ins aren't a massive issue like peop... moreWell of course if the panel is well-conserved, then burn ins can be prevented from happening.
However, people are now getting more and more dependent on their phones in the modern times, and use the phone for almost the entire day, especially now at this time of pandemic, where people are inside their homes and have a lot of time spent on using their phones.
OLED's main advantage over IPS LCD is the more lively color reproduction and better brightness, and since many also like to watch contents on their phones, it's also nice to have a bright display for great HDR quality clips viewed on the screen. But setting it on the lowest brightness simply defeats that purpose. So in that regards, Sony limited the brightness of their OLED screens to around 600 nits to prevent this issue from happening, and others could've taken the same precautionary measure as well. In fact, for an expensive $1400 phone, you simply don't expect flaws like this to happen in such a short period of time.
As a matter of fact, Sony knows this technology more than the others. They've pioneered this screen tech after all.
That's why you can barely find any reports on Sony OLED phones suffering from burn in, even if you try hard (except those demo units on stores, which is to be expected from a phone running at max brightness 24hrs).

[deleted post]It's true though. There are things that people say bad about this phone from the things they don't understand.
I am a Sony fan, and the moment we try to explain things on why things are like this or how they're wrong about something, and tell them in a nice manner, we always end up getting red-tagged as blind fanboys, and settle for insults whenever we show people some evidences and proofs of the point we're saying (or at least that's always the case for me).
This war will never end until people start to talk with us properly and have a healthy discussion, but it won't happen unless the trolls here are gone. There's a difference between constructive criticism and just purely messing around saying nonsense on things they don't even have any idea about.

I am not a Sony Brand boy, if you are happy with the way they post the reviews based on pre-release software its totally fine with me.

No problem to wait until the end of summer to pick this up for under $1000. A the time of the 5 II release this thing should go for about or perhaps under $900

But I have 6 headphones/earphones at home and I don't want any more. So for me there is no point in spending extra 300 for a pair of cans- be it the best in the market.

Dman too expensive, they should fight for the market/client, not pretend to be an iPhone. There is a Samsung Galaxy S20+ at this price and we have a bit € left ;)
I would like to see a blind test, compare photos. I am waiting for the 5.5 - 5.8 inch version aka Compact but only for a reasonable price. If not most people will buy S10+, S10e or new iPhone/Galaxy.

Exactly. It's not louder or better than the rest. It just catches up to most. And that's what those videos show so far.

Of course, real life experience would be better for comparisson, but given this here rev doesnt do a proper audio testing, we can only rely on audio recordings from YT testers.
From what I ve heard so far, Dolby on those widely separated front facing speakers sounds indeed better and more immersive than most, even if not the loudest or whatever.
I just tend to trust J Bagnell on this, he is a proper audiophile with years of experience in smartphone audio testing.

So please, link the YT comparissons you mention. I ve might have missed those.

Nice comeback for Sony. But just too expensive. Following Xperia will hopefully even better in terms of camera. And, like I wrote before, Sony should develop a new line of QX-Lenses for mobiles. There is a market for it, because mobile camera quality is a USP. Imagine nice bundles which they could easily sell for such prices... In marketing campaigns they could compare imagine quality with „normal“ phones.

And please publish the review of Xperia 10 ii now...

Lcds can have back light issues for instance.

Yeah it does happen and it does suck but that's a limitation of the technology and as far as I'm aware, burn ins are covered under warranty, or at least samsung does it, not sure for apple but I guess it's the same.
Still, no amount of burn ins will make me switch back to an IPS panel.

Surpassing Pixel XL, iphone 11 pro and samsung s20 Ultra in terms of quality is not enough??? Just because the other 3 can be louder doesn't mean they have great audio compared to X1 II. Just saying.
