even china brand huawei selling mate 30 pro for $1300 without google certification . I guess $1200 for a sony phone is more than fair .

Now I have placed my pre-order. Yes its expensive just like every other flagships. Anyway this phone seems to have everything I want and no notch or punch holes and seems to be an worthy replacement for my 3 years old Sony XZ Premium.

The streaming quality is being restored in some parts of Europe [1]. It would have been nice of GSMArena had they mentioned this issue in the review too!

What they don't understand is Lithium is Lithium and the only way to even out a long lasting lithium battery is by giving it proper optimizations in the form of reliable input power watt and proper heat dissipation.

Sony uses Qnovo tech on their smartphones. It optimizes the battery very efficiently. I'd prefer implementation of this tech over fast charge and fat numbers any day.

4K actually also improves the Hdr in dark colors such as shadows. That's why one can see a difference in color richness of the 4K over the 1440p screen.

Yes, you can see dead pixels ( eyedrop, eyehole, notch, ... ).
Yes, i know u can hide those bye turning off the top screen. ( Smaller screen with top bezell... meh its just ugly ).
I don't like those things, this phone don't have them. Haha, calling me sony fan...eh, it's just my opinion.

Filmi... moresony and lg are virtually the only 2 brands which makes phones that allow for 10bit footage along with manual exposure settings in 3rd party videocamera apps. Samsung, Huawei, even iPhone has no idea what 10-bit footage looks like.

mcpro24fps is another contender to Filmic, allowing the 10-bit footage to be shot in log/hlog/slog.

So, how come no really great video phones out there? Filmic Pro app, only goes so far. Even $20 phone could be a reasonable camera phone. It's mainly allowing the software to do everything right, and a nice buttons, sensor and lens. Those last two are out there since the first 4k galaxy note.

Come on you companies, drop the pretence, give us pro video camera mode with full control, visually lossless data rate 4:2:2+/Bayer 12 bit+ 16 stop? Even if only by external drive? When we go to someone's wedding we want descent footage.

I used phones, tablets, laptops from different brands through out the years and i have never seen a dead pixel.

If gsmarena did not reveiw a new phone soon, the comments here will reach 1k+ easily, Sony fanboys logic is something extraordinary.

anyway I wish this phone could bring Sony back to the game.

                                  4*2 R
                                  4*2 B

So vertically there's red, green and blue in each line, but horizontally there's twice less of the blue and red.

But even then we get a problem.
1920*1080 on an IPS = 2,073,600 RGB pixels

1440*3200 in reality is 1440*1600 (or 720*3200)=2,304,000 RGB pixels
1644*3840 in reality is 1644*1920 (or 822*3840)=3,156,480 RGB pixels

                                  1440*2560 on an IPS = 3,686,400

so Samsung's OLED hardly surpassed real FullHD pixel count and Sony's 4k OLED hardly reaches real QHD pixel count
And people blame Sony for 4k as if it was the battery hog.

A rather good improvement compared to last year's flagship, but still not good enough for the price. Low light still isn't the best, and that selfie cam without AF... what were they thinking?

I love sony but I hope they'd just scrap their mobile business already and focus what they're really good at aka Playstation, TVs, audio hardware, and camera modules.
