So, Sony while will update their flagship for 2 years both Android update and security patches, Sony also tend to update their phones based on chipset age inside except vanilla Xperia 10 and XA2 series. This is because Qualcomm charged more when you're updating a phone more than 2 years, and Sony Mobile situation just got revamped from zero since 2019, so they have mess of course. XZs is has the exact same hardware as the original XZ except camera, color choices and more RAM. XZ was launched with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow while XZs 7.1.1 Nougat. Both running Snapdragon 820. XZs had received 2 years of security patches updates, so you SHOULDN'T rule it out about security patches (XZ patch ended at October 2018 security patch, while XZs ended at April 2019 security patch).

Sure I do admit 1 big Android update wasn't enough, but software updates support in Xperia XZs/XZ1 era is times better than software updates during Xperia SP/M/C era (in SP/C/M era, Sony abandoned the devices way earlier than XZs or XZ1). And did I mentioned bout Sony big contribution on Android features with AOSP Project that seen in current Android?

My Sony Xperia XZ premium is 3 years old and have had 2 years of updates. My battery has not degraded so much. Still get a day and night worth of life on single charge.

      The introduction seems better than the other phones but I don't understand the notation... It deserves more than 3.5/5 stars at this price range for such cons (which are not deal breakers btw) !
      The Xperia 10 II (Mark 2) is better than the iPhone SE 2020 because it got more great cameras, a better build quality, a better screen without a bastard aspect ratio and without a notch and finally a 3.5mm jack for only 380€ ! The SE 2020 is sold at 500€ in France, it doesn't worth it at all but the pro Apple people don't care about other brands like Sony...

That why i want sony xperia 10 mark 2 more than any flagship chinese phone. I bought sony z3 and used it for 4 years my bro used m4 and used it for 4 years but when i thought about the price i skip to xiomi, honor, vivo and i have to change every year. But i can't find one in india now.

They have heating issues, worst camera for the price, bugs in firmware that sony never fixes, etc. That's why they cannot compete against big companies such as apple and samsung. Even sony fans like me, don't buy their phones anymore. Their high price is not the only factor.

Sony is not able to play in volumes, they sell phones even less than no name brands of China. So fat margins on each phone is the only way to sustain.

              The problem is Europe and America are not so fortunate like us. We are frankly spoilt of choices while they have limited number of handsets available in their country. So to them this price seems logical. Once they visit India they will have a SD865 device for the price of this phone.

              This is the very reason why why Sony left our country in 2018 with 0.01% market share. They just cannot sustain with their pricing model in competitive marketing environments like India, China and many Asian countries.

              This does not make Sony phones bad, it only implies their phones are overpriced on the global scene.

I have tried making calls using iphone 6 (single speaker) and iphone 8 (stereo) and there is a very noticeable difference in loudness. But apart from the ear damage that you mentioned, there might be signal strength that affect the call quality.

Btw, I have previously used xperia Arc, Go, SP and currently own a Z5 compact. I have tested a lot single speaker phones vs dual speaker ones. The dual speaker is louder & clearer when making a phone call because the earpiece is a loudspeaker. But hey, everyone has their own taste right?

                            Bob d , 09 Jun 2020sony phones have no support, no future android updates, the... moreSony has Android updates policy for its lineup. 2 Android updates and monthly security patches for 2 years for flagship lineup (1 series & XZ series), while mid-ranger (10 series & XA series) gets 1 Android updates and security patches per 3 months for 2 years. For entry-level L Series, it won't get Android updates. But it will get security patches per 3 months for 2 years. Sometimes more that occur on their C series & E series (both got 3 years of updates). They have support for the devices as well, but it differs from each market. And what do you mean " their custom interface last only during the particular sale"? Their custom UI has already been closed to vanilla Android than ever. If you're talking about early Xperias before Pie, even Lollipop, then it would make more sense.

                              Anonymous, 09 Jun 2020Those are all $500+ dollar phones despite being over a half... moreTrue they are hard to find at 350-480 price, but its basically small memory/ cheaper processor variants of 999 priced models, unlike 10 which got stripped also of camera hw.
                              Well, I compare now, few weeks/month later there may be next lvl phones in 250/450 price category putting to shame those I mention now, bringing 150mp, 10x zoom, IR cameras, who knows what, thats why bringing just so so specs is not enough.

Sure, optimization and updates, yeah, they excel. And I do agree iOS is improving. But still lacks even the fundamental features one seen in phones is odd.

                                  They quit in 2018 after failing sales numbers coz of the same over pricing strategy.
                                  History repeats itself.

                                  Infact plenty of phones from Zenfone 6 to Realme X2 pro to Redmi K20 pro available around the 350-400$ price tag.
