Google should’ve made the phone to 160gram because of a minimum 4000Mah battery and bump up the price to $399.

Dometalican, 15 Aug 2020Considering Google should be advertising the Pixel line as ... moreWhy should it have had an even bigger battery? It's battery is already best-in-class, easily beating the likes of iPhone SE and 1+ Nord.

It also has a class-leading camera which easily matches and even outperforms almost all Android flagships, as well as silky-smooth software, making it perfect for people who use their phones to do loads of photography and intensive browsing. Sure, an ultra-wide camera would have been nice, but it would bump up the cost, while the camera is already far ahead of the competition, anyway, meaning the marginal benefit of having that extra lens would be quite small marketing-wise. And a telephoto lens isn't necessary given its zoom is already better than a good majority of phones in the price range (including main rivals 1+ Nord and iPhone SE).

I don't really understand your concerns. I think Pixel 4a is a fantastic option for many people, performing well all across the board and having stand-out features (like flagship-beating camera and clean, smart software) not offered by any other phone in the price range. Don't let this review misguide you. They probably had a faulty unit, anyway.

They may have simply gotten a faulty unit, as they are the only ones who have had any issues with selfie cam focus (which is not even seen to be an issue in their photo samples).

Considering Google should be advertising the Pixel line as clean Android phones with zero bloat and enough hardware to satisfy the basic needs of basic folks, this isn't bad. Should it have gotten at least a 3,500mAH battery? Sure. Should it have added at least an ultrawide OR telephoto lens? Yes. But at least it's OLED, stereo speakers, headphone jack, and 6GB RAM/128GB ROM for $350. It's not bad at all for someone who doesn't use their phones except for phone calls, texting, and basic browsing.

I can only hope the 5 goes with SnapDragon 768G, 2K@90Hz display, 4,500mAH battery MINIMUM, and retains the headphone jack. I want to root for Pixel but they have to give just the right amount of hardware to sell me.

What a weak battery life for this type of SOC and size of the battery ... other manufacturers can do almost twice as that ... what is wrong in this equation?

Pixel3xl247, 15 Aug 2020Damn my pixel 3xl takes about 2-3 seconds Try Night Sight in extreme low light conditions and use a stopwatch and count the time after you pressed the shutter button. You'll see that Night Sight takes nearly 7 seconds. I don't think that the Pixel 3 Night Sight behaves differently. In better light conditions or light conditions with highlights it won't take that long, but it's often frustrating when it suddenly takes nearly 7 seconds and you even get a slightly blurry image and have to take the photo again, which again takes nearly 7 seconds. Google made a huge mistake that the Pixel 4 doesn't have HDR+ enhanced, which is a fast Night Sight mode, when you use exposure compensation.

Anonymous, 15 Aug 2020Blurry photos are no surprise. OIS is enough is you need ... moreNo, when it comes to the OIS of the Pixel 3a, you will often get at least slightly blurry images at 1/3s or 1/2s, unless you don't want to breathe for 7 seconds. Night Sight often chooses 1/2s to 1.0s per frame (handheld , after update to Android 10). HDR+ enhanced, which the Pixel 4 doesn't have, merges 1/5s exposures and this leads to sharp photos all the time.

It's buggy, laggy, crashy, stuttery, slow. iOS is LIGHT YEARS AHEAD! Yes, it's not open to change your fonts and so on . . yet nobody is really bothered about stuff that won't make your phone better. Speed and stability - the two pillars of iOS that Google just don't get.

The only gains of the 4a over the P2 are better camera along with video recording, more software updates (3 years vs 3 months), Android 11 should be better optimised on the 4a etc on the 730. The battery life of the 4a is pretty disappointing.
