GaryUK, 12 Oct 2020Early reports coming out that the front glass is more easil... moreI mean, sure it is more brittle than past Gorilla Glass, but I am going to put some type of screen protector anyway. Putting on a tempered glass screen protector is going to be easier since this phone has a flat screen as well.

Early reports coming out that the front glass is more easily scratched than other modern phones, accordingly it only has Gorrila Glass 3 on this model (vs Gorilla Glass 6(!) in the Pixel 5). That's a big one in my view

6ix, 09 Oct 2020Not iPhones, never iPhones I never knew Iphone Fanboys will come on an android related article to bash on it huh? I swear they always say android users do that. But you iphone users always coming here to bash on a phone you will never buy. Like stay in your apple related articles dang.

The Pixel 5 is a better option overall, the chipset is now IRRELEVANT outside of benchmarks in an Android or iOS environment, they now have way more power than those operating systems will ever need. I don't understand why review sites keep mentioning that it isn't a flagship chipset when it won't make any difference to 99.9% of phone usage

Looks like it should have been named Samsung Critic edition instead of Fan edition.
Samsung has changed almost everything what some people criticize about.
For example,
*Plastic back instead of glass(It still uses metal frame, make no mistake).
*Less punchy color or realistic color(I am not into it because I want my picture to be out from auto mode for straight sharing because if I want to edit I would have definitely used the pro mode. So true color means dull image to me. So, I want punchy color from auto mode)
* Most importantly, people have choice now, They can buy both SD and Exynos version(though I'm not sure about the 4G only countries).
* With a proper value with no important feature missing or any bad parts.

Thus, the pixels are smaller when zooming and by right the FE's 8MP should handle light scenes better and dark scenes much better

The S20 FE is using an 8MP 3x optical zoom (which is lossless), and the S20 is using a 64MP standard lens and is cropping inside this 64MP to take a 3x zoom photo. 64MP is 9280x6944, with a 3x crop, it is 9280/3 = 3093 and 6944/3 = 2314, so a 3x crop makes a 3093x2314 picture, which is approximately an 7.16MP picture. The S20 FE have a 8MP zoom, so comparing that to the 7.16MP, there is a little more detail in the S20 FE, and a better lens quality since it is a 3x lossless zoom, so it can take slightly better pictures, despite the S20 having a 64MP "telephoto" sensor using digital zoom.

I am a little confused. In the section of the review on the comparison of both telephoto cameras, it is mentioned that "In terms of sharpness the results are comparable between the Fan Edition and the S20+". Considering the S20 FE has 3x optical zoom and the S20+ doesnt, I am surprised by this. Am I reading it right?

If I am not wrong, it is mentioned in the review that S20FE and S20+ are comparable at telephoto. Surprised as only S20FE has 3x optical zoom?

Wouldn't take this for even free.
S20 5G , is way better. Rather save up for extra 3 months+ to get S20 5G.

Samsung s20 FE is simply amazing, glad it is hard plastic instead of metal and glass, more durable.
They went all in on the phone, for less money.
My past phones of Samsung Note and Galaxy s9+ would not compare to this model s20 FE, it's faster, more storage, and the camera is freakin SIC! I APPRECIATE the solid durable construction of this phone... It is a great phone.

Anonymous, 09 Oct 2020Plastic back is disheartening, they could have gone glass c... moreAnd... You will be complaining about higher retail price for a normal flagship specs phone.. pffttt...
Nothing wrong with plastic, as long as they are durable and look/feel premium.

Had a chance to check it out today in the store... it kinda has an A-series feeling, not like a premium phone.

I bought one on Amazon the other day. The front glass is horrible. After 2 days I had it full of micro scratches. Nobody has screen protectors or cases in stock yet so I put it away and went back to my note 9 until I can protect the screen. Factory screen protector was a cheap sticky you type that I couldn't stand. Should have left it on. Otherwise I think the phone is brilliant.
