It looks like it does have a pro/manual video mode. In screenshots of the pro camera UI, there is a video icon at the bottom right. Pressing that should enable pro/manual video mode. It's the same on my Mate 20.

    The biggest issue after google services is the fact that they're launching this at more than 1000 dollars with Android 10, not even 11
    Which tells you a lot where their devices are going

          That doesn't make much sense as most people probably know how to use a digital zoom function on a phone. Now the lens no longer suffers from severe corner softness issue that P40 Pro's had, it seems illogical to me that they keep cropping the image and upscaling it back to 12.5MP just to get fuzzier final photos.

                - faster storage and ram
                - better/faster internet connectivity
                - better screen/audio/cameras
                - better materials (unless you have those cheap bad "flagship killer aka midrange with Snap 8xx).
                - software has more features

                  At real 27mm, module would be thicker. (Reason those 80-90mm use 8MP 1/3.6-1/4" sensor, while those with 50-54mm use larger 1/3.4").

                  They use crop because 24mm may be too wide for the taste of many ppl.

                  My phone has 25mm, I wish it was 28mm.
                  25mm is too much for my preference.

                      -I have Mate 20 X 4G and I have dual speakers and this phone is the loudest from all smartphones in the world everyone telling me turn off that TV when I ramp it up at max
                      I have 5000mAh but screen is large so it drains battery about the same level as phones with smaller screens about equal if you leave phone standby the phone will run more than week...

                      -Cpu and gpu has massive improvement Mrwhosetheboss on YT put everything on max in game and all smooth no frame drops ...

                      -If you enable pro mode you can change setting of shooting no?

                      -Colors u can set in camera menu using leica standard, vivid or smooth options

                      -Yeah video recording is most important for me they been lacking this.. Now massive improvement

                      -Overall STILL not better than mine Mate 20 X 4G haha .. 5g is still pointless nowadays, rounded screen makes me uncomfortable to hold and use ..
                      I hope Huawei will release next X model maybe Mate 50 X perhaps with kirin 10.000 :D

                        Just somethig to bear in mind, the Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro Plus has different zoom cameras and ultrawide.
                        Mate 40 Pro has 12 MP, 5X ZOOM, RYYB, F 3.4
                        20 MP ULTRAWIDE F 1.8, RGGB, 18MM

                        Mate 40 Pro Plus has 8 MP, 10X ZOOM, RGGB, F 4.4
                        20 MP ULTRAWIDE F 2.4, RGGB, 14 MM, anti distortion lens free form lens

                          Google less
                          Non practical curved edge screen
                          Odd screen aspect ratio
                          Ugly front and rear
                          No audio jack
                          Anyone with sane mind would buy xperia 1ii over this Unless he/she is Huawei fanboy or wants the best camera experience.

                            That pill shaped notch and the empty space between camera ring completely ruins the looks of the phone 😬

                              This isn't a phone you need but a phone you want

                              It's like saying "i don't understand why peoples would buy a Porsche, there are plenty of much cheaper cars that does the job just fine"

                              Because Porsche are enthusiast cars and this is an enthusiast phone

                              If, when buying a phone (or anything else), what you need counts more than what you want, then you're not an enthusiast

                              And there's enthusiasts things for every budget.

                                  This is a joke in design as I said before, this is obviously sided to huawei when we can see plenty circle camera bumps and mate 40 with nokia inspirated design and being celebrated is a joke for the site itself.

                                    Hope they will make new Mate 40 X or Mate 50 X but shame it will be expensive again.. I never purchased smartphone more expensive than £400 That's just stupid..

                                      The unique ultra wide selfie cam is actually the best setup I've ever seen.

                                        I really do not understand why someone would buy a phone for 1000+ EUR/USD, when nowadays midrangers are so good..
                                        And actually I was expecting from this phone something more special but.. This phone is all about the camera and that's it. I really see no sense in the curved display, what is the use of it? And it has an eye-soring pill-shape camera, and no audio jack. And the lack of GMS is also a minus for many. Plus the expensive price, so a big no from me!
