Anonymous, 24 Oct 2020No GMS service: I think this literally encompasses entire G... moreSkewed... GMS implies 'mostly' on service provide/relied by Google.. But you obviously, like GSMArena, trying to avoid the fact that out of the box, the default store is near non-usable for the western market. Yes, it the app and easy of access to the apps I'm talking about, if you cannot comprehend from my list of point.
You try and let your parent or grandparent buy a Huawei, and explain them over the phone, they need to install 3rd party store or side-load simple daily use apps to keep in contract with rest of the family such as Whatsapp or facebook. Not to mention most 3rd party store mechanism of software update is no way near convenient as the default store.

507AMS, 23 Oct 2020this phone should be around 700 euros???? are you Huawei... moreI am smarter than Huawei CEO .. thanks that you asked.
Just roll this phone for $700 and it will steal all the market and people wont care about google anymore.
and big no , it is not $500 for Google , because the phone is overpriced . and I dont care about Apple Pricing .. companies are overpricing their phones because Apple is overpricing their phone.
The cost of making this phone wont be more than $350 and can be sold for $700

Naah,okay phone,but ni google apzz.
Truth is that its so important, also many security apz cant install bciz ban from usa.
Example i cant use any bank accoubt apzz...thats crucial.
Huawei phones are good not better than best ones but bciz many usefyll apzx and inportant security options not work, cant see why i buy it.
Im sure yhat huawei doing something wrong from spying things,so many coutries denied it...i mean so many cant be wrong..
Anyway,i wait alot huawei 30 pro phones..but i must say,big dissapointment.
Only camera was good, but if camera is like galaxy s7 edge level,it is enoug 99% users..really..i mean fast focus, great pics.
Bad and sad for huawei...i dont buy huawei phone bfore its have all right and can use goigle appz.

Anonymous, 23 Oct 2020A little skewed review... 1. 3rd party store isn't ... moreDont be blind critiser.. gsmarena was bold to say sony has best camera hardware with worst software. They pointed samaung has weak hardware but best software..huawei matches best hardware and best software for image processing...so they are best...huawei is not available in india but they are best, no one can beat them..but everyone will miss them..

Although I'm about to drop a few to Huawei, 1st I'd still tip my hat and respect that they still have the balls to put out another updated flagship. Because:- well obviously they're still being victimized by this Trumpian idiocy of a no Google ban and they're running of other partners due to said ban.
But getting back to the topic which is the phone, there's a few missed opportunities. 1st that hideous notch. ZTE already proved that an under display front cam can be done and Huawei of all Chinese OEMs imho are still capable enough. They should have waited just a bit longer and figure out an improved solution. Especially when/if you're not really in a good position to "keep up" to a "normal" annual model refreshes because of the ban.
Secondly there's still a legitimate loophole that Huawei themselves were dumb enough to have overlooked; official bootloader unlocking. This would allow users who choose to unlock, to then proceed and flash AOSP based custom ROMs so that they'll gain back the core GMS. Legitimate because this only applies to the international users and not all. Maybe a maximum of 10% but a very very important 10%. That's 10% "goodwill" that you can't measure with just money. This 10% mobile tech nerds if/when they talk, spread the word and assure about a product their friends and audience listens. If they say that this is the real flagship to slay the Pixels due to better hardware, people listen. But for them to do exactly that, they'll need the code/software/firmware freedom to back that up.

Anonymous, 22 Oct 2020Flagship x midrange - better software support - faster... moreAll this is great but the difference is minimal, just not big enough to justify the 500 Euro difference. A 1000€ phone is not x2 better than a 500€ one. In real life, you'll almost see no difference. Maybe except gaming, but I don't do that because I think gaming on a phone is trash, but that's my opinion.

T M, 23 Oct 2020I still don't understand how a 1200€ phone doesnt have... moreThe P20 Pro didn't have OIS either. And the P30 Pro was advertised with OIS, but I tried multiple P30 Pro in a store and one couldn't notice OIS with the main camera at all (whereas it's obvious when you use the main camera of an Apple/Google phone or the periscope camera of the P30 Pro). Also, in Pro mode there was no difference when compared with the main camera of the P30, which doesn't have OIS

T M, 23 Oct 2020I still don't understand how a 1200€ phone doesnt have... moreWhat natters is the performance, not hardware, maybe Huawei's software processing is now very superior that it doesn't need OIS. Huawei's auto mode in nighttime is even better than their night mode or even other phones night mode, that's very impressive considering the lack of OIS.

"Rear camera: Wide (main): 50MP, f/1.9, 23mm, 1/1.28", 1.22µm, omnidirectional PDAF"
Huawei never said that it has omnidirectional autofocus. People mistake Huawei's "Octa PD autofocus" marketing language with omnidirectional autofocus. Huawei's Octa PD autofocus is very likely Quad Bayer Dual Pixel autofocus, if you watched the presentation of the P40 Pro.

God forbid, do not buy a Huawei. For some reason, Huawei is trying to gather people's information with the dirty Chinese government, and Huawei is doing a copy of Samsung. Seeing this copy reminds me of the s10 + 5G phone. Damn the Chinese government.

"you'll be greeted by a camera arrangement that you haven't seen before"
I find the configuration similar to HMD's 9 pureview and 8.3 5G. Definitely not something "I've never seen before".
