As expected, disappointing camera according to 2020 standards.
One can only squeeze so much out of a tiny sensor.
We have seen similar things with the pixel 5. The hardware has started to show its age.
But the pixel 5 with same sensor and Snapdragon 765 still does better than iPhone with A14.
Conclusion: Pixel hdr is better than Apple deep fusion.

My quick opinion on the iPhone 12 after having it nearly a week. Screen is brilliant, had pixel 4xl before and I don’t miss the 90hz and it’s much brighter with better colours which to me is much more noticeable. The camera is great and I much prefer the ultra wide to the telephoto. Video looks really nice in Dolby vision hdr. Speakers are really good, which is something that isn’t spoken about a lot. Battery is surprisingly good, not brilliant but can get me through a relatively long day with lots on google maps, YouTube, TikTok and Spotify which are massive battery drains. Phone feels amazing in the hand and IOS is quite nice this year, familiar but with a nice extra layer of customisation. I am someone who doesn’t have an android or iOS preference

Listen up android bois!
This just goes to show how they would trash anything that doesn't fit with their mindset and praise anything that does with no real evidence.

Android.Master, 29 Oct 20205g party already started in developed countries.
Besides... moreThe battery life isn't weak. It's just not an improvement over the previous generation.
Though I can't argue against Apple having made a big issue of 5G, they really did, overly so for sure. Mind you, the flip side to that is now that iPhone is 5G you will see carriers taking it far more seriously than when it was exclusively Android.
As for higher refresh and better battery life, yes there are androids that offer either or even both. Evidently though, these factors do not seem to sway opinion towards the android camp.
For instance, to get this better battery life and higher refresh rate, your average IOS user is going to have to part with many of the benefits that attracted them to the platform in the first place, kiss goodbye to level software support they have been used to up till now (latest version of android 6 months or so after it was released anyone.....), a companion smartwatch platform that's actually worth considering, etc.
Sales figures would suggest that while IOS users may secretly desire a longer battery life, and even perhaps a higher refresh screen, they certainly don't seem to want them enough to make the switch.
And that is fine, I highly doubt there would ever be any factor (or a combination of) that would convince you to leave Android for IOS, the same in reverse is true for others.

What should I be impress for this new apple phone. Maybe the bionic a14 5nm. Highest geekbench rating, the rest not so much. Somehow the antutu benchmark just ok still lower than many android phones. Camera still comparable to s20 and mate 40. Battery life sucks. User customization limited. Design not attractive at all same old iphone phones. For the price range it should be the best but I think not worth it.

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2020Apple tell you 12 = 11r = xrLooks like you are right as I have digged deeper into how Apple tries to differentiate the base model vs. Pro model.
So after looking at Anandtech (ppl call it an Apple site, but Anandtech has actually complained to Apple previously), there is a difference in the cooling system Apple uses for regular iPhone 11 vs 11 Pro. Regular iPhone 11 does not have the graphite sheet, but the Pro model uses it. To prove if it's correct, I used it for demanding games. The hot spot is just right under the cameras. Heat doesn't dissipate onto the back glass evenly. Though Notebookcheck said that it's just the Pro model that throttles and not the regular 11, but I'm not sure.
MrWhoseTheBoss has also found out that during the battery test, the Antutu score of the 12 Pro was about 30k higher than the regular 12. I don't think this has anything to do with extra 2GB of RAM.
So yeah, you have a point. Xr=11=12.

Android.Master, 29 Oct 2020All the phones go through same testing. All phones reviewe... moreI think he is stating that for all 5G phones. They should specify whether 5G was enabled in all reviews. Helps in comparing them with other 4G devices, for example OP7T and OP8T or S10 and S20.

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2020You cannot be late to a party that hasn't really start... more5g party already started in developed countries.
Besides, what I am trying to say is that they made such a huge deal about 5g at the presentation during Apple event only to churn out weak battery life.
Android phones launched this year have 5g with high refresh rate and still have better battery life than iPhone.

Thank you for mentioning lack of Touch ID as a Con!
Apple sure is proud of their new Touch ID on the latest iPad Air. They should have revamped everything and brought this to market on a new iPhone. And it is why I will not buy their newest phone.

R & D should have been better spent ie let's consider the notch. Not good enough considering the price . At this price it should not have any flaws. MagSafe not really important yet and it will evolve in time to be better served

annonymous, 29 Oct 2020Exactly, I tested the iPhone 12 in the shop yesterday and i... moreThe iPhone 11 last year should have had the same display as this year's iPhone 12. There is no way a $700 phone should have a 720p LCD display but many people still bought it. Was it clever marketing, Apple's brand power or did people not really care?

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2020I find it weird they did not specify whether 5G was enabled... moreAll the phones go through same testing.
All phones reviewed on the site since the start of the year had 5g.
Just because iPhone scored terrible in battery test doesn't mean testing mechanism was changed specially for it.
5g phones have existed for a while now. It's Apple who came late to the party.
