Woohoo, 28 Nov 2020Hey YUKI93,
Would u mind helping me a little? I currently ... moreIf you want to use it as a secondary device, that would be alright. For me, I much prefer to use Telegram than WhatsApp and Telegram is still being supported on Windows Phone, so that is alright for me. But if you really need to use WhatsApp, forget it - you need Android or iOS for that.
Battery life depends on personal usage. For me under average use with only Mobile Data turned on, I managed to get around 19 to 20 hours of battery life. The last build of Windows 10 Mobile do take some suffering for the battery life under heavy use, so do bear in mind about that.
The old Microsoft Edge is still usable for me including the Desktop version, but that depends on what kind of website you want to access. As for video watching, I also installed VLC as a companion to the Films & TV app though you can try out other third party video player apps.
I agree about zoom performance - it is not the Lumia 950 and 950 XL's strong point. But since I am a mobile photographer, I owned myself a tele mobile lens alongside the ultrawide mobile lens from Apexel and Beastgrip, so not all is lost for me.
Long story short, you don't buy Windows Phone because of social life. You buy it because of its OS smoothness and fluidity and also the amazing camera for select PureView Lumias.

ONE NOTE: Why you guys didn't use the Huawei Mate 40 pro plus? Yes again plus since Huawei Mate 40 have 3 versions
1) Huawei Mate 40
2) Huawei Mate 40 Pro
3) Huawei Mate 40 Pro Plus (this one has one additional camera. 8 MP, f/4.4, 240mm (periscope telephoto), PDAF, OIS, 10x optical zoom)

Pls remember that the highest flagship of Huawei is Mate 40 Pro+, not Mate 40 Pro.
Mate 40 Pro doesn't have ToF 3D sensor. Only Mate 40 Pro+ has it.
Mate 40 Pro+ also has 10x zoom telephoto lens while Mate 40 Pro only has 5x zoom.

Anonymous, 29 Nov 2020Interesting.
Instead of going to photo pro , then turn ... moreWhy do u think Xperia user in XDA there dying want to port the GCAM instead of using the already built in Photo Pro then? That only they can answer.
But base on my observation, people there came from other brand, to newer Xperia. They simply not happy with its processing, as simple as that.

Shui8, 29 Nov 2020Its not as easy as u think dude. GCAM in Xperia are harder ... moreInteresting.
Instead of going to photo pro , then turn on HDR and leave all rest on auto, ppl want to install 3rd party app that will increase sharpening, lose ability to use AF for burst, have wrong colours with too much contrast (even on LCD blacks look too black like blacks on oled), underexposed faces to prioritize background.

[deleted post]No other phones use 3rd party apps in the test. And not everyone would bother installing that app.

The one working on Xperia 1 & 5 are version 6, and actually its only 'semi-working'. Go to XDA, really, stop giving fake statements. When it comes to 1ii & 5ii, even GCAM ver. 5.1 are not stable.
Other company such as Xiaomi & Oneplus already enjoying ver. 7, stable lol.

was seriously considering an upgrade from s10plus to iphone 12 pro max or note 20 ultra, the jump in image quality is barely noticeable other than side to side comparison or white balance which MOST people will do a slight adjustment anyway.
Will wait for s21 ultra first or the next iphone. or just get it right now and regret? decision decision...

Shui8, 28 Nov 2020Do u really know that up until now, there is no working new... moreWhat I know is that there are plenty of options to choose from and see which one works well for the phones.
The GCAM ports that work for the previous Xperia 1 have HDR+, so where did your information came from?
Developers have created working ones already, and they're close to being fully usable. For now, you can just use Photo Pro app, set the mode to full Auto, then enable Auto HDR in the settings for a similar result.

iOS.Never.Again, 28 Nov 2020Not my problem...
OnePlus, Realme, Xiaomi allow it.
Don&... moreThen your suggestion is bogus overall, since you did not consider the other factors that play in your idea, just like in this comparison where the focus to manual photography of the Sony was not considered as well.
Like I've said, you're lucky if your phone brand allows you to have all the freedom that you want, but you're also sorry if your manufacturer is strict against letting you root your phone.
Of course wiping data is always guaranteed, but is it really worth the hassle of having to reinstall everything back again just for the enabled camera api? I don't think so.
Yes of course there are benefits, but like I've said, they're often just exclusive to the main sensor, while the ultrawide and telephoto ones are left out.
Sony literally gives you RAW support on all three rear cameras, and you don't have to undergo to all the struggle of deleting and reinstalling all your data just for a function that only works on one sensor.
Even if you have to root your phone, Sony's software support via Xperia Companion is one of the most user-friendly among all Android devices. It is surely better than Huawei that doesn't allow unlocking bootloader altogether.

[deleted post]Then they would have to use pro mode of samsung and huawei too.
Manual mode just gives control.
Considering iphone does not have manual, no tech site will ever use manual unless to turn on HDR to compare to HDR off.
If auto uses iso50 + shutter 1/2000s, photo takes with manual + iso50 + shutter 1/2000s will look exactly the same.

iOS.Never.Again, 28 Nov 2020 Maybe your Xperia gives waxy, plastic images. Tell your... morelol what. Xperia's photos are the least "wax"y and "plastic"y looking from this bunch. Just look at the grass and bush details. Where iPhone and Huawei give you oil paintings, xperia's grass looks at least somewhat like a real grass.

Not even RX100 mark I can be outperformed by cellphones.
Hardware difference is too much for software.
Cameras also have real glass lens with dedicated elements with different shapes, while phones use all elements equal.
Now imagine RX100 mark 7.
Sensor is more than 60% larger than ones used by s20u and mate 40 pro.

Phones fan, 28 Nov 2020The conclusion:
Xperia
1 overpriced
II failureYou are jealous because your phone probably is still Full HD/uncapable of displaying 10bit content, cant record HDR, no IP, antutu boost/cheating software, unable to photography subject unless it is static, speaker beside ubs port, lack of regular updates.
Now we just need to know which chinese model is ...
