Anonymous, 28 Dec 2020The 720p oled screen contributes to the great battery life. Oh I know, the low-res pentile AMOLED is too much of a compromise for me.

Interesting phone. Shame for 720p, and no AOD tho. While I can life with that as with most of my old phone. But as with my all of my old phone i need Notification light. So I might have to pass on this one.

Poor speaker test results, average screen brightness, and OMG HD screen are a big letdown given a $130 phone also claims FHD screens so y this compromise?

So far if that batt life tests really didn't deviate too much, then as far as I'm concerned this is the 5G phone to get NOW. BATTERY LIFE is the only parameter that matters for me next to long term use until 5G gets rolled out in my country Malaysia. Problem is it's about 2 and a half years away at best. But this remains a promising option, if not people can still instead choose a decent enough last gen 4G flagship that should be getting saner markdowns now, hold on to that for a bit then trade up to 2022/23 models. I'm old enough to know that even when proper 5G arrives, net stability and coverage are the 2 things most telcos are gonna fail at in their 1st year anyways.....

Why? Because I'm just about had it with these so-called "Android OEM partners"... even more so with fancier and pricier flagships. Smartphone users and consumers are getting screwed over every year. Now Samsung and Xiaomi both already (as feared and predictably) hinted that they're doing that shitty Apple way of NOT gonna bundle a charger in the box.

When you look at user ROI that way, hell I myself might even consider a new iPhone 11 I dgaf because I KNOW that'll at least get roughly 3-4 years more of iOS updates.

JES, 25 Dec 2020The sweet spot for performance is always to go with the low... moreFor me 1080p is the sweet spot for most sizes right now. My A70 is on the large side even by today's standards at 6.7", but I haven't had any pixellation concerns despite having had a 1440p phone in the past and genuinely struggling with the pixellation on the 17" 1280x1024 work monitor I had at the time.

720p would be a much more noticeable downgrade at that size, but in a more compact screen it'd still clear the 300ppi mark and be a modest tradeoff at worst. That also would be a good fit for the A4x name.

60Hz over 250€ is an automatic deal breaker to me at this point, the 720p is just an insult to an injury.
