Panda eyes, 25 Dec 2020I love the design, Shame the A42 isn't compact like th... mores10e was perfect device basically 100,% same as the s10 with 1 less camera and side mounted fingerprint scanner which actually works better than underscreen
only downside was battery life of whole s 10 series was average and they exynos was inferior

A40 - a compact phone. A41 - stilo compact. A42 - a giant, 76mm wide. Heh, talking about consistency, Samsung.

Only the price is a let down. Display isn't important for many folks. Other than that, it's great.

The display is a bit disappointing really. i am used to FHD super amoled in samsumg edge 7 where everything looks smooth. But in this phone, somehow you see the different in display where you can see the pixels and looks rough . i dont understand why samsung downgrade the resolution in this phone. FHD would be better.

Even if you're used to a FHD phone screen, You likely won't notice anything (Like I do, As somebody who regularly used both)

Also why it has en exceptional performance apart from its low screen resolution is that it has a Graphite heat spreader/dissipator where the Chipset rest,all the 2020 A series Galaxy phones do not have a heat spreader,even the foremost Galaxy A71 has a basic set-up,no heat spreader.

The series A4x start with a FHD display.
Buying decision for me is the display: I don't buy phones under FHD display!

I don't buy that 720p is some new sweet spot in 2020. For a smaller 4.7 inch panel like the iPhone SE 2020, 750p is ok, not great. For these growing 6.5+ inch devices, no, 720p is not some kind of new sweet spot. You'll notice pixels even easier on an AMOLED display like in the A42 than on an IPS display of the same resolution.
The sweet spot should be 1080p for everything in the 6.5 inch size range and the option to go with 1440p for flagships.
