Samsung Galaxy S20+ long-term review

Hey Crew,
I am using the S20 and have the same issue as Hari with regards to the overheating of the phone whilst using the camera. This will be a game changer for me and I may have to go back to the iPhone. Admittedly I work in a high ambient environment during Summer ( 35 - 45°c) , but I need to take around 100-150 pics over around a 90 minute period. Currently I get about 30 before the high temp warning is displayed and locks me out of the camera until the unit cools ( I usually just turn the unit off to speed up the process) If there is a known fix for this , please share. Perhaps I am simply asking too much of the unit given the ambient temperature and may need to use a stand alone digital camera

I am using Samsung Galaxy S20+ over a period of 3 months. Phone is good but it heats up while taking more camera shots. At a point of time it feels very hot and camera doesn't work takes time to cool. I got an update recently with newer version of Android and One UI. I AM STILL FACING THE ISSUE.

Other than that camera, speed, features, everything is good. This is my 4th Samsung phone after Samsung galaxy s duos, J7 2015 and Galaxy S7.

The only issue i have with my s20 is biometrics reader, namely fingerprint. I have the factory screen plastic on, not sure if thats the issue. Also i have had to adapt to the fact of screenshots requiring pushing vol.down + lock button, but the same applies for switching it off (press abit longer). If you press and hold the lock button (traditionally also the power button), it just starts up bixby. Other than that, its a superb phone and the s-pen is great

I'm using s20+ from last 10 months. In the first 2 months there was a problem of heating but after update it is resolved. The phone is premium, doesn't hang or lag, features are good. The only problem is less battery backup, battery lasts a day if you do regular stuff, for gaming and heavy users, it needs to be charged twice a day.

I've had an S20, though in the Ultra version, since the release and while it is mostly a great device, blazing fast with a fantastic screen, the camera is terribly disappointing for a flagship. On release day, the autofocus was awful, no other way to put it. They've patched it to a level where it is just okay-ish most of the time. Still not acceptable for a device with this price tag. It works very well in broad daylight, taking pics that are at times brilliant, but anything less than that just results in mediocre photos. I really hope things are better in S21. Either that, or Huawei gets Google Services back. Preferably both.

Its sad that even reviewers think that switching resolution to 1080p at os level is the same as having a 1080p display. The difference is night and day because of lack of physical pixels on the 1080p panel. 6.7 inch is too large for 1080. I hold my phone close because of cornea problems and 1080p panel looks messy and my eyes get tired but qhd display even running at 1080p is so soothing. No one talks about this. BOTH R NOT THE SAME. NOT EVEN CLOSE

Sorry for those who bought and trying to justify its price now. But exynos 990 is totally crap.
Winter time you love that and didnt feel heat but rest time you will definitely smash it.
Its heating chamber with worst battery life.
And for those who trying to say camera (vivo v20 camera is damn sharper and clear) than s20+.(only photos not videos)

I said this because i s20+ and giving genuine feedback.
Hope exynos 2100 would far better.

Annonymous, 07 Jan 2021Best buy phones for the buck, especially if with Snapdragon... more3 months using S20+ and i completely agree, at current price ~INR50k, it is the best Andorid smartphone out there. The screen, camera, build construction is excellent. In India we get the Exynos version, but it still gives me 6-7 hrs of screentime, more than the S20 FE with the same chipset and smaller screen.

With a plastic back, flat screen, no ToF sensor, no microSD, lower res screen, no fast charger or earphones and definitely higher price- the upcoming S21+ is essentially a S21FE, which makes the S20+ today a great value buy even in 2021.

After a year, what is the remaining maximum capacity of the phone's battery. On my Note 9 after 2 years 5 months it is 3017 mAh compared to original 4000 mAh, so I now get range anxiety. That makes a huge difference to usability and longevity - given the promise of 3 major upgrades of the os.

you forgot 64mp shots, which are nothing like 12mp... not to mention it should be capable shooting it raw. At least for me it would be main reason why to buy this instead of anything else, as no other phone is capable of that.

Do you have indoor photos of toddlers or pets, especially when they make small movements? How does the pictures look? It seems that outdoor photos also tend to look better than those taken indoors with artificial lighting.

1)Now THAT IS a very nice and detailed review. Very good job! 2)So, you are a hiker. Cool!! I love mountains in Bulgaria, fantastic landscapes, I visited quite often, pre-covid, just a few hour drive from Greece. 3)They sell combs in the market. thay can be quite useful at some occasions :P

I can't understand how in 2020, they decided to sell a phone with a poor life battery like this one

How can the reviewers not be sure about Sony tele-photo camera optical zoom in their flagship phones? Unbelievable! Their cameras' focal lengths are specified. Xperia 1 is 2x optical (52mm) while 1 ii is close to 3x optical (70mm).

I have both the Xperia 1 and S20+. Both are good, but In terms of zoomed video, X1 is significantly sharper.
