"Upping the resolution would have meant more power consumption, a greater strain on the CPU and GPU, potentially lower refresh rate and average frame rates and higher input lag"
🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

How are you going to be writing articles for gsmarena and not know that you can simply change the resolution in display settings????
They could clearly give a QHD panel and let you change it to 1080p. Or even default it to 1080p like samsung does.

Dinosaurs, 14 Apr 2021 Cause your not an RoG 5 user . So you don't know the ... moreHaving had a device that partially failed Zach's durability test, which in itself is very unscientific, I can attest that it shows some indication of longevity.
My previous device was the Xperia XZ and it had a plastic frame. The device itself is very durable and it survived A LOT of falls to hard floor over my time with it for 4 years. However the frame bent and twisted during normal use when I placed the device in my pant's front pocket. The apply pressure over time weaken the frame and even the top right corner of the display popped out.

I haven't had a ROG phone, but most complains I've read on verified purchased reviews show that the series is a fragile one. Most complain about having the display broken (either externally or internally) by a small fall (even with a protective case) meaning that the display could be very cheaply made or the connections to the motherboard are crap.

I wish you good luck with your device, but I didn't want to risk it, specially in my country where I get zero support for any brand (except Apple/Samsung)... so I actually stayed with the brand I've been comfortable.

It's a real shame that this year's ROG Phone doesn't have FM Radio support, or else it would have been a solid alternative to the LG V60 despite not having a flagship-grade camera.

ROG phone from its 2nd gen onwards are great phones. The only problem I found was the usb-C connector at the bottom of the phone. the usb c connector on my rog2 had burned twice when small droplets of water gets into it. replaced it twice. not sure Asus had look into that in ROG5 design on it

8 hours of endurance rating difference between 144Hz and 60Hz? I'm just gonna leave in Auto. If there is a feature where we can only allow a certain app to run at 144Hz, I would definitely welcome that. I don't need 144Hz all the time, I only use the high screen refresh rate during mobile gaming and that's it. For pretty much all the time, I just stick to 60Hz.

Sadly this phone is incredibly fragile, the weak point between the batteries and no lengthwise ridged support means it folds like a house of cards. If you never intend on putting this in your pocket, you are probably fine otherwise stick to the rog3 which is much stronger.

Ioannis, 14 Mar 202120.4:9 screen ratio, are you joking? Too narrow for everyth... moreIt's supposed to be great for gaming and media consumption. Like movies for example, if you like this those black bars in movies you'll hate this aspect ratio. Sure you can pinch zoom but then the side are cut and also it looses a bit quality. Sony phones as 21:9 aspect ratio and it's great for watching movies or scrolling. It's still :9 so you didn't loose any content display vertically when ur in landscape but now u have more view horizontally. I don't see anything wrong with that. For gaming wide displays are considered great(landscape) that's why we have ultra wide monitors. If you're thinking of buying this phone for stuffs other than gaming n media consumption than you shouldn't buy it ig.

Umer, 18 Mar 2021ridiculous structural weakness . please explainyou can see the weakness in the design in a Jerryrigeverything video. There Zach managed to destroy the device by bending it in the middle. This is an issue not because people will intentionally do it, but because it will make the device less resistant to pressure applied when keeping it in pant's pockets or accidentally sitting down if it is on a mattress or couch.

The design has several weak points in the middle, and the frame is not rigid enough to overcome those weaknesses.

Anonymous, 18 Mar 2021How many bend their phone with all their might, 9 fingers?I am a mechanical engineer, and it is not about bending the phone in one go full force... it is about applied pressure over time.
My, still working, Xperia XZ has a plastic frame with similar weak points in the middle, due to the thick side fingerprint scanner. Over the years and normal use without a case my phone managed to bend slightly for keeping it in my pant's pocket and sitting down (side pockets that is), due to the pressure of some pants, and this became a real issue last year when I noticed that the top right of the display glass was coming off of the frame. I needed to put a piece of adhesive tape running from the front top bezel to the back, otherwise the proximity scanner wouldn't work. The plastic frame had cracked right next to the fingerprint scanner and this feature no longer works, I need to unlock with a pattern.

All in all my Xperia XZ still works and I gave it to my son for light gaming and communication, other than those weaknesses, the device itself was incredibly sturdy and survived LOTS of falls to hard floor and the display is still basically intact.
