All those negatives and it still scores a 4.3/5?
I think GSMA needs to rethinking its rating system.

Plastic body, camera without OIS, no Telephoto lens, no IP
        Only sd888 as flagship?
Better buy 2021 Galaxy A series if your not gamer (I am not even samsung user)
This phone is like 4Minus 9 not OnePlus anymore but people accepting 😆 because they are OP bhakt .
        Sorry OnePlus

I actually ordered the ₹55k 1+9 variant, only to cancel it just before the delivery. My reasons are as below :
              1. Plastic frame
              2. No IP (water+dust) rating
              3. No OIS in the main camera
              4. No wireless charging in the Indian variant
              5. Heating issues reported in SD888
              6. Position of Fingerprint scanner is bit uncomfortable
              7. No Gorilla Glass Victus
Its better to go for 1+9R at 10k less and if you can spend more money go for the 1+9 pro.
I am pretty sure, 1+9 will be remembered as one of the flop phones from OnePlus.

Android-Authority, 01 Apr 2021Disagree.. It was one of the best budget flagships of 2020,... morelets agree to disagree

beep bop boop, 30 Mar 2021it was not one of the best phones of 2020, it was THE best ... moreDisagree.. It was one of the best budget flagships of 2020, certainly not the best phone of the year.

matuka, 31 Mar 2021Surprised about the average battery life, I heard the batte... moreContinuing: I almost pulled the trigger on an 8T late last year. I decided to scrimp for a bit longer with my S9+. It's still doing its job very well for the most part, only the battery life is meh now that it's almost 3 years old (mine turns 3 in June). So I decided to wait for 1+9 and such, and here we have it. Same price IIRC, 699€ (Europe). SD 888. Insanely fast charging and a good large battery. Great OS. Great camera. Plus here in Europe you would get Exynos if you went Samsung, and you can get the Arctic Sky colour which is the coolest one and has a MATTE back!! The base model is only 699€, that is GREAT value for money. Like MKBHD said, "it's sneaky good value". Even he realises it. The S21 is 879€ where I live. Bargain hunters aside. And it loses in a couple of areas. OIS would be great but it's not necessary. Plastic is not a deal breaker as long as it's durable and it has its advantages too (like weight). People are too needy and ask for too much for too little sometimes. Also I don't want to go with Xiamo/Huawei sorta stuff.

I realised 5+ years ago that there is no perfect phone. You have to make compromises somewhere, especially when you're talking about a midrange phone that costs 399-699€~. I think I'll go with a OnePlus 9 8GB/128GB Arctic Sky for my next phone. Get OnePlus Buds Z for free if pre-order too. And get a Karbon Bumper Case to go with it. That'll do me for 2-3 years at least. I like to get a new phone roughly every 3 years. The base 1+9 is a better deal than the 9 Pro, no doubt about it. 200€ less. If you want a phone that's not super expensive then the 1+9 is the way to go in my eyes. But that depends on where you live as well, and what you value in a phone!!! So don't just listen to me, or tell me that I'm wrong. I'm just looking at it fairly for my needs and region etc. Sweet spot. Not too expensive, not too cheap. Upper mid-range "flagship".

nanagdad, 24 Mar 2021True! Great marketing strategy & they price it $100 les... moreThat's poppycock. The base model 1+9 costs 699€ and has very largely the SAME specs as the 9 Pro. The 1+9 Pro costs 899€. That's a 200€ difference for not that much improvement. Plus not everyone wants to spend that much on a phone. I will get the 9 if anything, not the 9 Pro.

Surprised about the average battery life, I heard the battery is actually slightly better than on the 9 Pro, and overall seems like a very good battery (not amazing but better than average). Oh well... No perfect phone out there.

Note7 owner, 28 Mar 2021Why even bother to give it more than 4 stars with such a sn... moreYep... 4.3 stars, 0.1 higher than the 8T. A 4.3/5 rated phone should be GREAT. But the tone is a bit snarky and negative. Nagging even though it's great value for money. 699€. SD 888 (instead of Exynos in Europe).

Why even bother to give it more than 4 stars with such a snarky review gsmarena?

b0d0, 25 Mar 2021Plastic for 700 euros? Are they serious???S20 FE.... one of the best phones of 2020 was also plastic and cost a similar amount.

Alex, 25 Mar 2021Where in the world S21 price is $699!? It's $799, so i... moreAt the moment the S21+ is going for $799 on the official stores but you can find it at a cheaper price, like 750-760$ point if you look around.
Unlike the Samsung that are already been of the market for a couple of months and start getting cheaper and cheaper than the official MSRP, Oneplus prices remain the same until new model reveals .

if not for gsmarena then i won't have known that this phone doesn't even have OIS. none of youtubers with their beautiful b- rolls and their 5-6 million subs mentioned it.
