Those uneven bezels are too ugly for my taste. Uneven, curved edges and massively rounded corners. That'll be a no from me.

Everyone's talking about how this phone's photos look straight off the camera but imagine what this thing could do in RAW capture

Me: A tiny screen to take self portrait? Nice, somebody is doing it again. Review: only works under strict condition. Me:.....
"Mi 11 Ultra isn't really priced to sell, but it's not entirely unreasonable either." - Yes it is. What most phone vendor and fanboy fail to realize, just because the hardware spec match, and you survive the market for sometime, it doesn't automatically put you at the same bracket as other top tier vendors. Would people think Hyundai Equus/Genesis are now in the same league BMW, Mercedes, Lexus and the likes? Would you put Honda NSX and Lexus LFA the same play level as Ferrari? Sure, some enthusiast fan may raise a good debate, but most general public wouldn't even think that. Xiaomi simply isn't there. Where's the international availability, warranty and post warranty parts? Sure, Samsung OneUI isn't desirable, but at least, you can have some warrant of support over its software by 3rd party vendor. And by 3rd party vendor, I don't mean custom ROMs, I'm mean app support. Want to try Windows Phone Sync, Adobe Camera, etc without hours of Googling and modding? Sorry to burst bubbles, but most of vendors beside your usual large names that want to sell their phones well above MSRP $900 (OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi), prepare for surprise and weak forecast of same future product line.

Anonymous, 27 Apr 2021HDR for video means 10bit. It is not same "HDR"... moreVideo in question is SDR but it uses 888 ability to stack few frames into one frame like iPhone video but it does so in 4K but not in 8K, that's why there is a difference between the two in pretty much anything.

I don't understand - "Realistically, none of the others can compete with the Mi 11 Ultra's camera prowess", but when I open comparison tool, I see clear that S21 Ultra is better.

Xiaomi phones are getting more and more enticing. Haven't had one since the Xiaomi note 2.

beep bop boop, 27 Apr 2021just zoom in to 2x or 3x, it has a 5x tele lens, so anythin... moreDigital zoom does not get rid of the face distortion.
This is why portraits are better done with 70-80mm cameras.

Anonymous, 27 Apr 2021Actually I would argue about better DR. Color accuracy for ... moreI think this phone can record 4K HDR.
No phone has 8K HDR because CPU does not support it.
The 12bit raw photos, the 888 allows but the sensor needs to do it as well.
But I think GN2 is capable of, even few sensors from 2016 can.

Great phone, but unfortunately the Mi 11 Ultra is not compatible with 5g bands among U. S. carriiers so it's not worth buying if you plan to use it in the States. Furthermore, if you buy it (i.e., import it) the phone warranty would likely be void in the States as well.

It is not same "HDR"... moreActually I would argue about better DR. Color accuracy for more field in editing - yes for sure.
Only in some very rare scenes you can recover more info from highlights of 10 bit instead of 8 bit.
Hope with next model they provide 10bit option built in native camera app for videos and 12 bit raw for photos. Also hope those quad bayer sensors will go away in future.

While the photos do look impressive especially for the Night Mode shots, I still see some degree of Xiaomi's usual oversharpening effect, especially the grass and the foliage. I definitely hope that a third-party camera app or even a GCam port can eliminate those oversharpening effects. Xiaomi nearly got it right.

To know the quality of the camera, I always look at the base of the snail on the right side of the snail during the day photo example (do it a zoom there with the mouse wheel). You will see detailed grass and very small plants. With this phone you can see almost in detail that, yes. On other phones you see a watercolor effect. It doesn't take reflex photos because it physically can't, but it has quality. But €1150 is not worth it.

Observer, 27 Apr 2021I don't about this best camera thing. For someone who ... morejust zoom in to 2x or 3x, it has a 5x tele lens, so anything between 1x and 5x shouldn't lose detail

I don't about this best camera thing. For someone who take a lot of portraits, 35 mm is not a flattering focal distance. I prefer the vivo x60 pro plus with its native 50 mm tele camera with beautiful portraits. I can't understand why, with a huge camera bump like that, they didn't put a 2 or 3x tele.

Anonymous, 27 Apr 2021Pay attention to differences in video between 8k main and 4... moreHDR for video means 10bit.
It is not same "HDR" of photos.
10bit already increases DR and colour accuracy compared to SDR video.

Zanr Zij, 27 Apr 2021Battery make me find another option :(. I'm quite happ... moreKeep in mind 6 hours is for when you put all settings to maximum which is very battery intensive. If you want better battery life go to fhd resolution or something lower , make sure to turn on night mode and lastly remember to put on adaptive sync. There are more things you can do tbh for battery life but that removes the point of buying a flagship with such a spec sheet
